Update....
Looks like the warranty folks don't want to go with a rebuilt unit. So instead.....they wanna have it rebuilt....WTF??!!!!:omg:
The dealer told me Dodge wanted to tear down my tranny and rebuild it. I asked what the difference is of getting one off the shelf already rebuilt by...
The plastic strip on top of the door panel where the panel meets the window is missing on my 03 vert. It isn't the brush guide inside the panel, but the plastic piece on top, about where you rest your arm with the window down.
Rockland can provide a near stock OEM unit for minor cost. We are trying to get Dodge to agree to letting us go that route. If Tremec backs Rockland's rebuilds why wouldn't Dodge??? I don't think we will get to a buy back situation. I talked to a certain member of this board and he thinks...
Also, I talked to Rockland about the Tranzilla. Is that the go-to tranny for the Viper? Are people happy with it or is there another one I should be looking at? The sales lady said she could provide a basically stock re-man tranny or she could sale a Tranzilla but it requires a 31 spline...
Yeah I understand. That's what I meant by "I totally agree with your points".
Update....
I just talked to the dealer and my normal luck I have always dealt with ("Oh, you got one of THOSE!!!) just kicked into high gear. Dodge can't find a replacement anywhere in the world!! I assume...
I agree with you on all your points. All I can say is I know how I drive and this shouldnt have happened. However, I do downshift rather often when slowing. You think there is a chance that may have caused back pressure on the syncros or gears and caused it? Like bending a wire back and forth...
Very possible. But I wasn't rev shifting when it happened so I think it would have been more apt to grind going into 2nd before it blew. I clutched, shifted into 2nd, let out, and BAM! I was also able to clutch it and go into 3rd to limp home without an issue. But I agree...there's more...
I dropped it off today. Loading it on my trailer was a chore. When I started it up to back out my shop and load it there was no clutch pedal. I had to pump it a while to get it to prime. Fluids are full and no leaks underneath. Once it pumped up it was fine. I have no idea what has happened but...
Lol! Yep, that'll do it sometimes! The part im still confused about is how it happened. I would expect it more if I had been banging the gears and causing stress, but to happen during a normal shift...wth?? Im still curious to see anybodys thoughts on my idea about the skip shift theory. If I...
Talked to dealer this morning. The tranny is covered and so is the clutch! So I guess I will let them just put a new oem clutch in instead of upgrading this time. I dont race the car so I dont need the hp clutch for the street. OEM will do fine, especially since its free. She also told me they...
I was told the chrome fang 3d first strike is no longer available. Working with them to decide 2nd option. Thinking about getting the red one instead. I asked if the background color could be removed and polished but havent heard back. Now that my tranny is busted i have time...
I figured yall would be all over this one by now. Are tranny failures that common or that rare that nobody is interested and/or knowledgeable about this particlar problem? I cant find very much in the search on my issue, which concerns me a little. I will find out more from the dealer today as...
' 03 vert 40000 miles. No mods, all stock. Very well taken care of. Im the 2nd owner as of about 6 mths. I only put 5k on it. No notice at all when it went. Normal shift out of 1st at about 4000 into 2nd, no bang shift, let out on clutch and POW!! Spun up to rev limiter before I realized what...
So I was driving home tonight and a car pulled out in front of me on a hill just before an open strech. I was able to maintain control and slow to literally 1st gear then went to go around once over the hill. I wasn't in it that hard, maybe 4000 when I shifted and I didn't bang the gears, but...
Re: So what kind of issues can I expect after having the battery disconnected for day
When I try this with mine after holding down 5 seconds I get a delay for some time before it will let them roll up. Is this supposed to happen???
Actually I just ran across a good deal on a B&M new in box short throw. Its the precision sport shifter. But I still need a handle. I am looking at the First Strike handle. It looks like it may be a tad taller than the other short knobs.. But im still sending you a pm.
Thanks
Thanks! And tell Bill I said hi and thanks for all his help. Can't wait to get with you when I start the more involved upgrades. He says you are the best!
So, do I just go to my local muffler shop and have them cut out the crossover, or is it more involved than that? And with the cats, I know I will need an O2 simulator, but what about making the difference up? Do I just add a piece of tubing? It already sounds like a hack job. I'm thinking...
I'm trying to find the best deal and style on a short throw shifter. Does anyone know the best place to get one? I'm only looking for the handle right now. Maybe the actual short throw assembly later. Also, with the shorter shifter do I need that recessed base ring so my knuckles don't hit...
Re: So what kind of issues can I expect after having the battery disconnected for day
I can't say about "days", but I had my '03 disconnected for 'hours' and the only issue I had was getting back into the car. Had to use the manual key under the mirror while pushing/pulling gently on the door...
Thanks for all the input! I apologize for not being more specific on the car. I have an '03 black convertible, all stock except for the K&N filters. The previous owner didn't add anything to the car as far as exhaust or upgrades as far as I know. Can anyone tell me how to tell if I have...
Okay, I have been searching the forum and have a lot of different options apparently. Can anyone give me some solid advice on a proven setup? Belanger(sp?), Corsa, delete cats or keep them, remove crossover or not? Stuff like that. I dont want obnoxiously loud and raspy. Prefer deep throaty...
I have an RB1 with xm sat and nav and actually really like it. The nav works via a loaded cd that stays in the 6 disc unit, but mine is outdated to 2004 and I cant find an updated version. It still works for most travel but I have my Garmin to rely on when I travel. The XM is modern and...
Do you have a coupe or convertible? I thought about the option of putting a powered sub in the trunk but I have heard the space between the back wall and the trunk was too great in my vert and it would sound like two seperate systems. Highs and mids in the front and bass coming from somewhere...
