Are the Gen II's value a little too high??

An ACR options was about $10K when new and adds $5K to the value of a used Viper.

VOI 11 Photos, Lets See Em!

When we left on Monday we drove through tropical rainstorms and nearly continuous lightning on our way to Vegas. Flying home the plane was an hour late, but I ran and made the connecting flight to Van. Then I couldn't get a flight home so the wife drove 4.5 hours and I bought a flight to...

door diffs. between Gen1 and 2

I remember way back when - you started posting about the build and I though it was great to do that. Something I would have done myself if I had less money and I respect that. Since you've been running it for quite awhile now it obviously was a good job. I really like working on cars and I...

Race the Base Top Speed Challenge on TV

They did? I missed it. They did say that there will be a supercar show at a later date though. It sprinkled and Darryl had slicks on his Road racer (Oreca style) and he did spin a donut when he went into second gear, hardly slowed down as he just got her pointed right and was back on the...

Wheel hop = Blown rear end :( Be careful

Wheel hop is interesting. My PS1s would wheel hop badly, but once I mounted PS2s I had double the traction and the wheel hop was gone. Guessing that if you change the tires it'll go away. Call Roe Racing as he was testing some polyurethane A arm bushings and they would stiffen and improve...

Need submissions for Domestic Driver E-zine 2010!

I'll send you a Reader's Rides on my 2000 ACR. Since I won a set of Bellanger headers from partsrack/Bellanger Headers I'll add a few paragraphs on the mods, custom trim, brakes and the new headers that will come in the box.

I needed the spacers on my 01 GTS. I thought the spacers were for differences between Gen 1 and 2s? Ted

It was great that you made it and we got to meet Greg. I think I probably needed those headers for piece of mind more than anyone in the room, :)

Buy a compression tester while there. If you find the compression is down put a few drops of oil into the cylinder and if the compression goes up very much then it's the rings. No change would indicate a valve issue. If the compression is good then pull the valve covers off and check...

    Winnings and JonB

Thanks. He gave away a Corsa exhuast (second prize) and a pair of Michellin Tires (or half of a set of 4) as well for the final draw prizes. It was awesome. Jon mailed me Nurburgring Decals last year and I put one on each of my cars. He gave me a couple Laguna Seca record decals that...

    10414 km door to door.

Good to meet you at Park City. In case I didn't explain it the secondary latch was what stuck. Hopefully you didn't have a problem with it on the way home? Spray some dry lube in there? Ted

Clint my bud (Louie 660rwhp) with the SRT10 Paxton is gonna add a Nitrous system to his car (hint) so that he can get up to the 802rwhp I've got in my Paxton ACR. We'd be happy if you came up to play with us Clint! I'm really hoping someone buys my ACR so that there'll be another fast Viper...

Are the Gen II's value a little too high??

V10emous --- "Ted... Great overview of the piston issue but the perception is that a forged piston car is more desirable right now... The Creampuff motor label certainly doesn't enhance the image of the car but who knows maybe that will change in the future. Can you do a run down on the Cam...

    VOI was great.

Jim asked Ralph Gilles about getting a Vette heros shirt and Ralph "gave him the shirt off his back!" Ceo of Dodge is a nice guy. Even the cops were fun in Park City

Take the bolt in to the shop with you for sizing of the helicoils. It's an eazy repair if you can get the drill pointed straight into the head. If the drill won't go straight then you could loosen the motormount bolt and that may give you enough clearance? Ted

I'm wondering what the sparkplugs looked like when you pulled them out and looked at them? Extra oil smoke would be seen on the sparkplugs and missing could indicate shorted plug electrodes. Could simply be old wires or old plugs. Could also be a bent valve, collapsed lifter, broken rocker...

    I hit a deer!

That's a good point. I suppose it would depend on individual state laws and insurance company rules. Question for a lawyer.

    I hit a deer!

I think a used hood would be a better choice than a repaired hood. You should be able to collect a few grand cash for "loss of value". JonB is copnsidered an expert by most insurance adjusters. Mark has also offered the help and every quote and/or estimate submitted to the insurance co...

installing HID's in a 98. DO I put them in the inner or outer bulb?

I installed HID low beams and they were so much brighter that high beams were useless and didn't help at all. Then I installed HID High beams as well and (as stated) the first time I turn on the high beams the light does take 15-20 seconds to brighten. I do a lot of night driving and will...

Are the Gen II's value a little too high??

Since the "forged piston" issue came up I'll post some info on the issues that the SRT engineers had to go through to find forged pistons for the ACRX. They tested forged pistons to find the least power loss over the Hypereutetic "cast" pistons. They found forged pistons (from Mahle I...
