Why not take the ACR to the 'Ring? Wouldn't cost that much $20k? $30k? It would be awesome to see what it could do. I still want the car in the worst way even if they don't go, but it would be interesting.
pretty nasty, IMO.
The only lame thing about HMS running the car is fanbois of other brands are claiming the viper is winning because it's heavily modded. Too bad the car wasn't factory stock. It would still be cleaning house.

Nissan and Cheby are talking a lot of trash with their 'Ring times. Too bad the Mopar boys aren't making a serious run at the 'Ring production car record with the ACR.
I use a chase cam camera mount in my evo. It's cool because it's a suction mount. It can mount to any smooth, hard surface. I put a miniDV camera on it. This is the mount:

The only thing to make sure you do is tighten the camera down...
How old are you guys? On-line shopping is where it is at. It's not like if it takes 2-3 extra days your car will blow up without a new air filter or plugs? Also, if you plan ahead you can order them on wed and have them for the weekend.
It is well known that pro drivers do better on tracks and in cars they are familiar with. My guess he has little seat time at Willow or little seat time in the viper or both. But, if the conditions were similar for all cars it's still a decent test. IF nothing else it shows how easy it is to...
That's kind of what I thought which makes me wonder why the ACR on Cups is only 2 secs faster then the standard 08 on Pilot Sports according to Helbig. Seems like that would have to do with tires and not the aero and suspension changes. Seems like putting those tires on the 08 would result in...
That very well could be true. I imagine it is, but it was just surprising. I have notput PCS tires on my car, but compared to the RA1s, especially shaved, they seemed to be slower on comparable cars, but it's always hard to tell because of different driver skill. If the tires are pretty much...
Dude, then you are the guy to ask from another thread! :) Going from Pilot Sports to Cup tires is worth how many secs at Wilow Springs? I figured at least 2 secs on tires alone. From PIR (portland) in my experience going from Yokohama A046 to RA1s was good for 3-4 secs and shaved RA1s gave me...
On my local track going from very sticky street tires to Toyo RA1s is worth 3-4 secs and it's a ~1:30 track on my pretty much stock evo. I changed nothing but tires. This is very consistent between different cars not just evos. 2 secs at Willow springs because of a tire change from street...
The quote of 2 secs was from Helbig (Viper chief engineer):
That is the part that doesn't make any sense. The fact the 08 has street tires and the ACR has R-compounds it should be 2 secs because of that...
When talking about the ACR who gives a flying crap about 1/4 times? The SRT engineers already said the ACR will be a little slower then the Viper coupe because of all the downforce.
I don't think the author was against the viper at all. I think he was trying to pander to the guy/gal that thinks the viper sucks because it uses 'old' technology. He setup the beginning of the article pandering to the preconceived notions and then goes on to describe why they are wrong in the...
Thanks a lot that was awesome. I didn't see any specific lap times for various tracks they test at for the ACR. That's too bad. I was hoping to see how fast it was at places like Laguna or VIR.
