For your radar.... our April Road and Track issue just arrived in the mail and it has an article "Evil Twins" comparing Road vs. Track/barely street legal versions of the following cars.
SRT10 vs, SRT10 ACR
Spyder vs. Superleggera
Carrera S vs. GT3RS
....
Steve Millen had the driving honors and they did the test at Willow Springs International Raceway's high-speed road course.

Decent article. My favorite quote "the SRT10 loves to be driven hard. The harder you run it the better it works."
Gotta luv that! :drive: They used the ACR used for durability testing and seemed to enjoy the "sheer speed" of it all.

Yeah,

I read that article and am familiar with the track.

Not to disrespect Steve Millen and I don't know the conditions of the tires, track temps or cars driven that day, but we have guys driving their stock or mostly stock GTS's at that track as fast as Steve drove the 2008 SRT..... and the 2008 SRT-10 is much, much faster than an old GTS.

We also have a guy that regularly runs his stock SRT-10 on street tires faster than Steve was able to drive the 2008 ACR on PS Cups.

Dodge or Chrysler Marketing should really let us help them with these types of tests. It would be nice to see a test where the car actually performs up to it's capability.

It is well known that pro drivers do better on tracks and in cars they are familiar with. My guess he has little seat time at Willow or little seat time in the viper or both. But, if the conditions were similar for all cars it's still a decent test. IF nothing else it shows how easy it is to drive the viper compared to other super cars.

I thought the ACR was suppose to be slower, well slightly slower in the 1/4 times due to the extra down force?? It has the SRT10ACR going 11.6 at 122.6 and the SRT10 going 11.7 at 122.8. Those are some damn nice numbers without a doubt. 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, wow. Thats what im talking about. I wish the ZR1 would of been in this test, I bet the ACR would of beat it. :2tu: :drive: I can see it now, GM is upping the boost on the blower as they saw the article :D

I'll be honest 122 trap speed is not that great. The Z06 traps at 125 and the ZR1 will trap at 128-130.This coming from a guy with an ACr on order so not being bias.I personaly live for the road racing world.

you missed the point entirely we are comparing times that have the same driver on the same day/conditions not what the z06/zr1 have done with different drivers on different days...your comments are only valid if steve millen had driven the z06/zr1 on the same day

If 122 trap speed is "not that great" then what is 125, just "ok"? And I suppose 128 is in the "pretty good" or "not bad" range. Not that I care much about drag racing but c'mon, even in today's HP wars anything stock over 120 is still respectable.

No matter. I wouldn't want Dodge wasting much R&D increasing trap speed if it meant taking away road R&D.

The zr1 was mentioned but since it wasn't available to compared to z06 that day I didn't include it.

R&T get notoriously slow 1/4 times. Even with only a few 08s out there we have already seen traps in your ZR1 range. The Z06 will only be a contest in the ET department.

These times are on the 2.5 mile loop at Willow Springs Int'l Raceway ::::Willow Springs Raceway:::: a 1:29.22 is pretty sad in the ACR, I could & will turn a faster lap ;) My stock 2000 RT/10 beat the Porsche time at Viperdays. Terry Rossi just turned a 1:29.6 first time out in a stock '08 Coupe.

I still think the Road and Track comparo article had some real validity in assessing the relative performance between the Vipers, Porsches and Lambos.

However, I think we're just going to have to wait until some of the real track junkies get their hands on a standard '08 and the ACR version, get lots of good seat time in each and then really wring them out to see what they're ultimately capable of.
