The black rubber piece is a diaphragm and is supposed to be exactly where it is. Your clutch and brakes are both hydraulic systems, but they don't share fluid reservoirs. The one you filled in the video is the correct one. Sounds like you may need your system bled, or have a problem with the...
Don't really believe a change to high flow cats should affect your engine operating temperatures noticably. What are the exact perimeters while your driving and noticing these operating temps (outside temps, length of drive, highway/city driving, etc.). I think the change to the 170 degree...
Yea, i just finished the install today (except for the turnouts and new r/t's) and while inspecting the engine bay for possible trouble spots, the brake lines running along that upper rail look pretty darn close. I plan on wrapping them, the O2 sensors, and the coolant return line on the...
I'm in the middle of my header installation (Belangers), and I'm wondering if everyone just reuses their old O2 sensors? I never had any CEL codes related to the O2 sensors prior to the swap, and am really just wondering since they are most likely the originals (car is an 01 with 10K miles)...
I agree! Thee isn't much material left. I would expect some fracturing between the center hole and the bolt holes with anything but light use. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.
I think the stance looks fairly stock to me now. If you like the ride quality, IMHO I wouldn't change it. I agree that lowering looks better, but the ride quality will suffer to a degree.
$8 hand pump bought at local auto parts store. Screws on to the bluid bottle, easy peasy. I want to get under the car anyway to inspect things, so I don't find it a PITA. I have a Mityvac that I use for brake bleeding, but think the larger units would be overkill for the amount of maintenance...
As you can see by the responses you've gotten so far, this isn't the type of crowd who is immediately impressed by just numbers. They know what parts work, what combinations work, and can appreciate a seller/owner/buyer who knows what he has/wants. Do some more homework on the cars internals...
I wouldn't worry about the "in-service" date too much. My 01 ACR wasn't purchased until 3/03 of the showroom, as I imagine is fairly common with these cars due to their price and specificity. If your tech, who I believe I know, gave you a thumbs up, I wouldn't worry. I've found him to be very...
Admittedly, not too familiar with them, but I'd say "hell no" from a customer's perspective. I wouldn't accept a gap that wide. I know from my own GTS that body panel fit varies a bit, but not more than 1/8th to 1/4 inch IMHO. I'd ask that it be corrected, or figure out how to correct it.
Ditto bump to JonB at PartsRack! Just ordered replacement Random Techs for those I've had on the car for the last seven years. I'm replacing the stock headers with Belangers in the next couple of weeks, and decided to swap out the old high flows as well. I've heard good things about the Roe...
Rotors need to be measured for minimum width, and can be turned to level and remove excess glaze and residue. Mine had 10.5K miles when I swapped out the track pads, and all I did was scuff with some steel wool and brake cleaner. Unless your car has has some serious track time or extra hard...
Quite a collection of sports cars. I know Danny has been running RA for years campaigning the Vettes. Nice to see Vipers in there, but really like to see some Gen II or I's out there also!
You can just swap them out for your current pads, and clean up the rotors you have on there now. I used some steel wool and brake cleaner to get off as much of the prior pad material and glaze before I bedded the new brake pads. No worries, and no freakin squeal!
Had the same issue with my 01 GTS/ACR due to having track pads on there (Stoptech front and rear). It was annoying and kind of embarrasing. I got with JonB at Partsrack, and swapped out for the new Stoptech Street Performance pads. The brake squeal went away, and they seem to perform very well...
Drive both, buy the one you like best for the most reasons. I was in the exact position your in, and I went with an 01 GTS/ACR. Absolutely no regrets. I just found the SRT-10 "softer" and less viceral. The GTS's are a modern classic! I could daily drive my 01 without any issues if I wanted to...
K&N filter, smooth tubes, Dynamic Suspensions dampers with rebound, compression and height adjustments, less insulation for weight savings, stereo and a/c were options, and BBS wheels. Think that's about it.
Like they've said, sounds like a great deal if the car is clean and well maintained. I paid @ 39K for an 01 ACR with 9.5K miles a few months ago. Lots of extras and Stoptech brakes, but your example sound very good also. Good luck! Prepare to get bitten! I already have headers and new...
Ted,
I buy from eBay often, and hate seeing that crap! How freakin resonable is a shipping cost like that?? I picked up the service manual for my 2001 off eBay and found a seller who shipped the manual for $6.95. Hell, the manual was in nearly perfect condition for and was only $14.00 or...
Update!? This thread is only half done without an update! Be very interested in hearing confirmation of the repair based on the symptoms and what the cost was to repair it....
I just don't understand this issue, unless you have a very radical cam? :dunno: I think my car is one of the smoothest I've ever driven (mainly stock 01 ACR), skip shift and all. To eliminate the skip shift feature, all I have to do is raise the rpm level above @ 1500 or so. This doesn't have...
Went with BFG KDW's in stock size for my 01 ACR. Have about 1100 miles on them so far, and they've been great. Read some complaints that said they were noisy, but I don't know what they were talking about. Their very good, and cost @ $1300 mounted and balanced for all 4 from Discount Tire.
