I'm looking for "recent" info from any Gen II ACR owners who have had their stock DS shocks rebuilt in the last year or two (longer if they know the rebuilder is still in business). I just developed a small leak (few drops a overnight after driving) on the left front shock after having the car up in the air for a fluid and brake pad change. I searched both forums, but the most recent info was from 2007, and it was pretty vauge.
No leaks before I raised the car up, so I'm assuming 1) that the seals are old and probably in need of replacement, and 2) after fully extending the damper, dirt got past the seal after it was lower. I did notice what I would call "seepage" on three of the four damper resivours when I inspected them, but the manual seems to say that is normal.
My real aim here is to find a location to get them rebuilt and figure out exactly what it's gonna cost. I know Moton's and KW's are well liked by many members, but, while I'm willing to accept that I'm gonna have to spend up to $1500 to get these rebuilt, I'm not too thrilled about spending $3-5K on a set of anything else right now. (Just bought Belangers and new replacement R/T highlows from Jon, and want to keep a little $$ for other things)
I also spoke to Jon about other options such as going with new non-ACR GTS type shocks such as the Eagles he's carrying. If anyone has any stories (good or bad) about converting their ACR's suspension, please share.
Thanks,
Pete
