I felt bad on what happened to a ACR in Dallas April 16th

Accepted Bandit. I'm not looking for any bad blood here, just want to talk Vipers and not necessarily have to deal with that kind stuff here. I think many on this thread have already summed it up well. There's bad apples in every field. I don't plan on sharing my feelings blindly about other job...

    Ride height ??

Looks like you have Alden coilovers. Did your ACR also come with the stock Dynamic Suspension dampers?

Gen II Gas Economy ??? WOW

I'd say 6-7 is low, unless your driving very aggressively on the street. First off, I know the gauge in my 01 is not accurate as far as strict reading is, so I always guage my mileage off the odometer (I'm sure you are too). I'm getting around 13-15 in town, depending on how hard I'm pushing my...

Is my car going to explode?

My concern would be that you had to "modify" the clips to get it connected. I don't have a lot of experience with this particular filter, but that alone would make me want to have a professional check it out, especially if your not 100% comfortable with it. A gas leak is a quick and simple way...

I felt bad on what happened to a ACR in Dallas April 16th

Friendship isn't the issue. I just take offense to anyone spouting off generalizations like that. I'm especially surprised that you were a cop, though I do know a few who left with bad tastes in their mouths. No field is all bad, gas station owners included. As far as crime prevention goes, your...

I felt bad on what happened to a ACR in Dallas April 16th

Nice and good for him, but I gotta say, if the roles were reversed (male cop, female driver), the cop gets fired.....I'd say she probably would too come to think about it.....Oh well, nothing wrong with the driver taking advantage of her poor judgement...;)

Need help with ACR damper rebuild..

Jance, I think the dirt that may have helped cause my leak was on the damper rod itself. I just thought that, since I didn't do a great job of wiping the rod down before I dropped the car off the jack stands, some dirt may have gotten forced past the seals. Like I mentioned in the original...

Need help with ACR damper rebuild..

Sorry Jon, didn't get the e-mail. Might have gotten lost in my mailwasher, but shouldn't have since your listed as a friend. Please re-send when you get a chance. Don't shoot me though, just trying to get as much info from members/owners as possible before I make a desision. Thanks, Pete

I felt bad on what happened to a ACR in Dallas April 16th

Wow Bandit, sounds like a great big freaking generalization....I'm sure you'll be the last one to call an officer when you really need one, huh? I'm plenty skilled, have more ambition than most, and don't enjoy paying taxes anymore than anyone else. Why not share what your line of work is, my...

    Pre-purchase questions from a newbe...

Been there, done that my friend! Once I finally decided on a Gen II GTS, it was a matter of finding the best buy for my heard earned $$$. IMHO, for the 90% of us who drive them mainly on the street, enjoy a spirited run most days, and track very little, you can't go wrong with any model. Just...

Need help with ACR damper rebuild..

I'm looking for "recent" info from any Gen II ACR owners who have had their stock DS shocks rebuilt in the last year or two (longer if they know the rebuilder is still in business). I just developed a small leak (few drops a overnight after driving) on the left front shock after having the car...

    01 RT/10 - Can I do my own brakes?

Where are you located? Good bet there's another owner nearby who may be able to help you out in person. I did have to use a good bit of pulling and pushing to get the old pads out, due to the fact that they were track pads, used hard (obviously) and were a bit tight in the caliper. No problem...

    01 RT/10 - Can I do my own brakes?

I have an 01 also, and just did a complete pad change and fluid swap (MityVac!). Now I have StopTech brakes front and rear, but the concept is still the same. This was the first time I'd done it on a Viper, but have swapped pads on many other cars. Took the better part of a morning because I...

    AntiVenom transmission mod

I owned a 2003 Z06, and remember this mod being discussed on the Corvette forums frequently. I never did it on mine. As with the Viper, I just don't feel the shifting is that bad. I actually think the T-56 in my Viper (an 01 GTS/ACR) shifts slightly better than my Z06 did, but this may be a...

Awesome looking car. Forget the mileage, just enjoy the car! I love the feeling I get every time I head out to the garage. Wish I could drive it every day!

+1. I've always done the same. Good insurance as far as I'm concerned.

    GTS Rollbars?

GTSnake, Yea, I can see the roll bar, but I don't feel it blocks a sufficient part of my rear vision. I have no issues with it, especially considering I also use my two outside mirrors continually.

    GTS Rollbars?

That top cross bar runs along the roof, so it's not inline with your rear visual at all. I think the shot from the rear show better than that from the front that the visibility isn't really an issue with the Autoform (imho)... P.S. The rear view mirror is in the way on the front photo...

    GTS Rollbars?

I have Autoform as well, and rear visibility is just fine. No issues and the fit is excellent!

Why did I buy a Viper?

Hang in there TxViper! I feel your pain, man. Retired from the Corps in 2000, so I know what it's like to miss family, friends, and your toys!! Semper Fi!

    noobie in texas

As the others have said, get a service manual if your mechanically inclined at all. I just did a full fluid change on mine (oil, trans, ps, trans and rear end) for @ $150. Took about a day up on jack stands, as I was learning my way around the car (just bought it 3 weeks ago). I can't imagine...

    Exhaust temperatures

I have high flow cats with a Corsa cat back. My sills never get too hot. I don't recommend getting rid of the cats completely unless you want to also deal with the other issues that come along with it (cat sims, emissions depending on your state). It's been done both ways by many, so I'm sure...
