When I bought my car I installed a new Alpine head unit with iPod adaptor, upgraded amp and rear sub. Such a waste since I never turn the radio on. No cats with 2 Borla mufflers is my music.
I had the same issue. I went thru the whole thing and changed the oil pan gasket, the rear main seal and the rear main seal cover gasket. I also did the timing cover gasket in the front of the engine. That one made me more nervous since that could leak coolant out and also into the oil...
Funny this came up as I just tossed a bottle of Seafoam in a full tank today.

It's VERY hard to find a good vendor. Remember...it's a very dirty job done by morons. Chrome looks awesome until it blisters like a whore with a bad case of herpies.
Well I ended up cutting the plastic birdcage and using it as a bushing and washer. At the end I installed one of the metal clips. I just didn't feel comfortable relying soley on that plastic piece to hold. Works perfect so far, as I expected since they are utilized on the other numerous...
Side note...I was going to chrome mine but ended up buying a MGW instead. I have heard too many horror stories of shattering during disassembly and being left with an expensive paper weight.
