One thing that seems to be lost on the people who want to see the upcoming SRT-10 Coupe be a street legal Comp Coupe, is that the GTS/R was a concept car! Complete with 1" ground clearance, tractor trailer length, reduced visibility and headroom from such a low show car roof, and gigantic, super...
If it comes to Vegas it would be the first time that I would be able to actually attend one of these VCA events!
Sonoma would work even better! :2tu:
Well it's clear that the FirePower concept would be the luxury coupe with a V8, and it will be shown at the NAIAS show in January.
But it's clearly a foolish move to ditch the V10 motor as it defines the Viper.
Still, I'm not sure that I would not put it past Daimler to try and complete the...
There are a couple guys here running 3.73s, without complaint, and 4.10s combined with 19s would be about the same. So it should be fine. As with any gears (I have 3.55s) traction at lower gears is tougher to get when you give the cars gas, and adding more power makes that worse.
Plus you will...
I've got a couple near misses with staring car drivers, but happily no crashes yet.
Still I have had 3 kids fall over, when not looking where they were walking, 2 more crashed on bikes, and one on a skateboard. :o
It's definitely a genuine complient I suppose, but it still makes...
I'm still learning. :2tu:
(435RWHP/460RWTQ)- 12.3 @119MPH
And with N2O track time below (546RWHP/607RWTQ)
No doubt I could do much better in the 1/4 mile with DRs, but then I'd certainly get kicked off of the track for not having a rollbar, and all of the other required safety...
I don't see the (long-standing member's) contributions to this thread as being Viper bashing.
I personally think that the SRT-10 Viper is great! :)
But I think that DC needs to carefully evaluate what they have done right, and what areas need improvement to maintain the Viper's good...
Plus there were 100 GT2 Commemorative GTS Vipers sold in 1998 (also white). :D
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lots of good points, and I agree that the bigger issues are likely over production for the market, and minimal promotion.
Is the...
I thought that the article and most of the responses to the posts were reasonably fair considering.
The Elise looks to be a very fun car indeed. And it's not hard to understand why some people would prefer a tiny, tossable, lightweight, sportscars to heavier, higher performance car like the...
The oval high flow cats are a tighter fit in the side sills, but they flow better than the smaller round ones, add a bit more power, and still run cool.
The installation was relatively easy.
I actually didn't add the high flow cats for the power as much as to reduce the side sill heat. And...
Re: Who\'s got the best deal on Michelin front tires for a \'01 RT/10
The Tirerack has them for $285 each, but the Costco price includes "Shipping, Handling, Installation and Disposal Included in Price" which probably makes it a better deal overall.
Well that's the first that I've heard of the Pulse Generator idea.
It would indeed be a cool concept to add another 100HP with an inline electric motor, and it could help a LOT in avoiding a gas guzzler label. :o
But frankly I don't see this coming from Dodge or Daimler. Neither...
But it's wet vs. dry track. There is zero doubt that the SRT-10 Viper would be quicker than the C6 Corvette if run on on a dry track. :2tu:
Early93, I wouldn't expect too much. This is about as complimenary as Clarkson can get about American cars (except perhaps the Ford GT).
But my...
Re: TOP GEAR VIPER VIDEO!
Considering that the Viper beat the AWD Murcielago around their track in the wet, and the Murcielago gained 5.3 seconds when driven on the same track dry. You can figure that the Viper would have a similar improvement, putting it around 1.23.2, or better!
That's a pretty funny comment considering that you are posting on a Viper forum. :o
If you want to see other uninformed opinions of people (like yourself) that have also never driven a SRT-10 Viper, so that you can find agreement with your limited perspective. You are welcome to look...
The window switch is really only for first gear.
Unless you short-shift, you will always above 3000RPM going into the rest of the gears. I'd look at dropping the tire pressure a bit, or shift a little earlier.
Still, it could easily be track prep (or a lack of it).
Thank goodness that I'll never be foolish enough to race any performance car at speed in the rain!
The Gallardo is AWD, which is obviously better in the rain and snow.
I'll have to remember that if I ever move to Alaska (or England).
At least it's better than testing...
Oh man, I was hoping to see (and hear) an in-car video of the supercharged DLM SRT-10 Viper running through the gears! :2tu:
Time to go out and make a second video now.
