    Gasket/high temp sealant question

Use the Copper High Temp RTV; it works well and use it on both sides of the gasket. I have had nice success with it on exhuast.

Yep, you are ahead of me at the same dealer, no VIN for me yet.

    Invoice pricing?

Real dealer updates are starting and VINs are being assigned. I do not have a VIN yet, but do have a printout with some pricing info. All info is expresly subject to change, but the bottom line, including gas guzzler, Destination, and charges for some kind of zone fee and Customer One Loyalty...

    Need some help..removing fascia

I do not remove the fascia skin from the support. Once you have removed the lower fasteners (1/4-20 bolts with integral fender washers) and the wheelwell screws, you need to remove 4 nuts from "stove bolt" style studs on the frame. Two of the nuts are easily accessible from the front of the...

    Automatic Viper

Tom, I think we agree. Your auto-equipped drag car will be optimized with a non-stock gear ratio, non-stock stall speed converter, and I am willing to bet some kind of sticky tire, right? Do nothing but use the same rear end ratio in two cars, one auto and one stick, and true street tires and...

    Automatic Viper

With the same engine in both an anutomaitic and manual car, I would be shocked to see an automatic faster than a standard transmission, even on a drag strip. The numbers on the "tiptronic" automatic in the 911 are slower than the 6- speed, same is true of the Corvette. Torque converters just...

    Seat belt info

What may help explain DC's reticence in response to the clamor over seatbelts is the fact that it is defending a class action lawsuit in Corpus Christi, TX, not known to be a friendly forum for defendants. Without debating the merits, suffice to say that DC cannot simply do the "right thing"...

    Automatic Viper

Call me crazy, but unless you have a physical impairment that makes an auto a necessity, putting a slushbox in a sports car is a crime against nature. No wonder Dodge thinks we want a soft car - some of us do. Might as well put a solid rear axle, too, while you are at it. And while drag...

Are the rear Koni Shocks adjustable on a 95 RT/10?

No ride height changes should be needed. Stock shocks have fixed spring perches. BTW, you will rapidly tire of shock adjustments this way, as the remove shock, remove spring, and adjust cycle is pretty time-consuming and you will need a spring compressor.

    HELP!!! STOPTECH AERO ROTOR RUST???

Very normal; you might check to see if the zinc wash is right (call StopTech and ask). If your stock rotors didn't do this I am surpised. The light rust will have no effect on performance.

    Z06 against SRT 10

verbose ostensibly erudite, yet ultimately futile, polemic ;-)

    Roller rocker rods

FWIW, I installed Crowers in my '01 and I needed no new pushrods. Be very careful when lashing to be sure the fulcrum does not bottom on the stud (it is close with probably only .020 clearance). Rather than try to get questionable data, pull a pushrod, measure it and go from there. I might...

    Rippie Brake Bias spring

Dunno, but claiming less dive due to more rear brake "work" is bogus. Dive is dictated 100% by location of CG, deceleration g's and suspension geometry. If anything, dive should INCREASE if your bias improves overall brake performance (i.e. more braking g's). Not knowing how the junction...

    Delivery Status of SRT

Viper HQ told me VINs had been assigned to certificate holders, but build order and dates are not yet decided. No way will any be delivered in August; production is not schedlued to begin until September. Frankly, I'll wait until 2003 when CAAP has several under their belts, the bugs worked...

Need to know the price of the SRT-10

If you don't have a SRT/10 ordered, I would say that there is little chance of buying one anywhere near the price of a current GTS. All '03 cars are spoken for and I would expect there to be a market premium for at least a year. Figure on the new car having a higher MSRP than the old car, so...

Clear Mylar on front of side sills??

Kurt, make your own from Helicopter or leading edge tape. I am getting ready to buy some tape for my side sills, because the factory price is something like $300 for the full set of appliques. Rip off of the highest order!

If styling doesn't matter how do you explain this...

Re: If styling doesn\'t matter how do you explain this... Mike, Count me as a person who (1)daily drives, rain or shine, his Viper GTS; and (2) may get a Z06, too (I have a modified C4 and the Z06 weight advantage and over the portly Viper and ease of modification are very interesting). I...

If styling doesn't matter how do you explain this...

Re: If styling doesn\'t matter how do you explain this... All this GT40 talk! I think the car is great, but if you think it will be comparably priced to the Viper, DREAM ON. Ford is not building it in-house (HUGE WIMP-OUT), but will source it through Saleen and/or Roush. Saleen's Mustang is...

Way too funny Viper ad in New Car and Driver

It's just me, but more tasteless than funny IMO. Hurts the image of the car; I did not buy mine as a status symbol and my wife won't even get in it with me because of the way I like to drive it. Maybe we should have poseur edition with a plastic V-10 around a Neon engine and a gold package...

    Michelin Rear Flats--What's up????

Re: Michelin Rear Flats--What\'s up???? My cars are nail magnets, too - can't say why, but my other big-tired cars love nails so it is not just the Viper. My favorite time was after the roof on my home was replaced - I must have gotten a nail a month in my own driveway. A simple nail hole can...

    Headers Help !!

For collector gaskets, I really like the copper or aluminum items you can get from Summitt; they won't blow out and can be re-used. Believe it or not, the high temp copper RTV holds up to heat surprisingly well and a thin coat on teh metal gaskets has served me well on other cars.

OFFICIAL SRT-10 POLL!!! THUMBS UP or THUMBS DOWN?

Just saw ACR Joe's comments, which mystify me. The 360 is not a "little" stretch, it is about twice the cost of a Viper (including the new car) and it has no performance advantage. I would like one, but face facts that it is to a large extent a poseur car (like I said, I'd still like one and...
