    Viper Club Financials in Notes

Kudos to the club for posting the financial information; I don't remember seeing this before and this kind of disclosure is critical to building credibility. Some interesting aspects appear to be: 1. Raffle cars don't come free, and perhaps not even at a significant discount. They appear to...

does anybody know the resistance values of the o2 sensors?

Resistance is meaningless; they produce a voltage that is about 0.7V at stoichiometric (14.7:1 A/F ratio). O2 sensors are quite complex and require active circuitry to simulate, you cannot just stick a resistor in series (except maybe the heater circuit).

Will SRT valve covers fit GTS?

    Anyone know the answer? Thanks.

    Viper vs. Vette (cornering)

Just don't turn left for too long with too many Gs in the SRT or it will be the slowest car possible. Pity the SRT has the grip but starves for oil.

Skip Barber 3 Day Racing School

A proper driving school will do things no DE can do, such as drills on shifting up & down, threshold braking, and skidpad. It is hard to practice the fundamentals at a DE and I think a basic school is a very good idea. But then I run one.

    street driven comp coup?

On the street? You would hate it, to begin with as it is a real, gutted race car with no A/C, no headlights, full cage to climb over getting in & out and many more issues. For example, the doors are flimsy fiberglass shells and there are no side windows. I suspect it is nearly impossible...

Sports Car article on Bob Woodhouse

There is a very nice article (over a page) in the October issue of Sports Car, SCCA's magazine, about Bob Woodhouse's performance, trials and tribulations. A really nice read with more history about Bob than I knew, and I have followed Bob for some years. Way to go, Bob!

    A Viper...yes....Other Things?....apparently not

This is the best post I've read in ages - Alice even appreciates the difference between "then" and "than" and I'll go on to surmise that the usage of "their" and "there," and "break" and "brake," and even the terrible trio of "two," "too," and "to" would be within Alice's grasp. maybe there's...

Thinking of buying a comp coupe

Bruce has said it for pro racing, for the most part. Pro road racing in the US has only lost ground since the Trans Am and Can Am glory days of the 70s. I don't know why, except that oval racing makes for better visibility, many places make it possible to see the whole track as a spectator...

Thinking of buying a comp coupe

I will be renting a CC at MSR this weekend, so the allure is great, but IMO it is foolish to START racing cars in a CC. I regularly race Spec Miata and Formula Mazda and SM is a perefect starter series for a young racer. We have several teenagers that race with us, the racing is close, and you...

    Remove clear powdercoat from rims?

Plate the wheels; the cost is not much more than a polish and clear coat and the finish is far more durable and reflective. On aluminum wheels, there is no hydrogen embrittlement, either. Downside is if the plating is not perfect or you curb a wheel, the plating will come off in a hurry and...

How do you remove the Front Fascia ??

DON'T pull out the push-pins - they will break and are a PITA to remove - they cannot be effectively re-used even if they don't break because they lose their grip. Once you have removed the bolts on the wheelwells and on the bottom under the radiator area, all you have to do is remove the hood...

I need someone in NY/NJ/PA with a jack and jack stands (X-Ray our Vipers)

can hitting the car with that kind of radiation hurt anything? Heck, EEPROMs can be erased with UV light. You would not hit living tissue with it, and I worry about the myriad electronic, rubber, plastic and other non-metallic parts being hurt by the X-ray radiation.

    Shakes rattles and rolls

My (former) 2003 SRT-10 was a big disappointment in build quality to my 15,000 mile '01 GTS. My GTS is still vault-like and has no squeaks or rattles after 3 years of vigorous driving (all the noises are good noises like gear rattle from tranny, exhaust, etc). My SRT rattled at the top latches...

WHO is competent dealer to work on my gts in dallas texas?

I assume the car never used to idle this way previously, right? What was the prior idle rpm? For your year car, Neutral Gear rattle is very normal, but your complaint sounds much more like a significant misfire. The dealer should be able to connect to a DRBIII and tell you the exact idle rpm...

    Oil Pick up for Racing

Todd, all you points are valid and I can see DC's point from a business perspective. I even imagine there is a decent chance no SRT owner will suffer engine failure with a stock pan and street tires, and the outside chance of failure is a lot cheaper than putting the fancy oil pan (that may...

    Oil Pick up for Racing

I cannot share the results of my dispute with DC. I can say that DC's attitude about what should IMO be a track-worthy car soured me on DC permanently. I don't know about others, but I simply can't explore the full performance of the Viper (or for that manner any sports car) on the street...

    Oil Pick up for Racing

Looks like this issue is finally getting noticed by more owners. I noticed this over a year ago when I first took my SRT to the MotorSport Ranch. DC said they'd do nothing about it and that I should not track the car. I asked what the "R" was for and refused to spend the $1500 or so for a new...
