Well, I can see it's time for the soapbox. I think the idea has merit. Personally I think anyone that can afford a Viper and doesn't take advantage of a great organazation like the VCA is missing the boat. Can someone give me a reason not to join the VCA? I do think that it should be VCA members...
First I have to say that I'm not taking anything away from the craftspersons that build the Viper engines at mound road. I've been there and watched and can tell you that they do the best with what they have to work with. I will also tell you that they have 48 minutes to build an engine. If...
Re: What\'s your other car? (this might be fun)
A 97 Z-28 convertible and a 90 lumina van for bad weather and to haul my Giant Schanuzer Max.. Sorry I haven't figured out the pic thing yet.
Just in case any of you would like to know. I ran into the Mobil 1 in the 5 quart jugs a few days ago at Wal-mart. It's about the cheapest way to get it but it's a promotional deal so when it's gone............ Just a heads up in case any of you need some.
Re: Hennessy\'s a Corvette tuner now ??
Just a wild stab but I would imagine that his decision was financially motivated and since there are considerably more Corvettes than Vipers I see a bigger market.
I would imagine you want Castrol Syntorq.. It's available at DC and GM dealers but I found the GM dealers price on it better than DC. It's what GM uses in their 6 speeds also.
Re: Don\'t get cocky the snake will humble you.
Good advice for all of us, especially those that don't get to drive their Viper year around. Cool tires, cool road surface or a little debris on the road can be a dangerous situation and the fact that, in my case I have been driving something with...
I owned a C-5 before my first Viper and there is not doubt in my mind that given a choice which one I would take on a 1000 mile trip. For that I would take the C-5 hands down. It's not that the Viper is uncomfortable but to me it's apples and oranges. Am I ready to give up the Viper for a Z0-6...
I'm just speculating but I would imagine since the clutch isn't adjustable that the relationship between the slave cylinder and the clutch might cause you not to have enough stroke to dis-engage the clutch properly if you machined the flywheel.
I went to a "fastener" seminar at work few years ago. I thought it would be a complete waste of time but it turned out to be one of the most interesting and informative talks I have ever heard.
The lug nuts are softer than the studs by design. The thread in the nut is designed to "stretch" to...

I'm not sure what you do about warranty work across the pond but there is a service bulletin on the 96/97 cars. DC replaced my alarm module for free and the bonus was two more remotes (that are smaller). The tech can program all four remotes to the car when the module is replaced..
Good luck
Joe
I think you will find that the GL-5 rating isn't the same and isn't better than the GL-4 rating. If my memory serves me correctly the GL-5 fluid is the fluid that is suggested for rear ends and transmissions that don't have brass syncros (large trucks) .. Go with one of the part numbers...
Great story Dave.. It makes me think about and appreciate my good health. This IS the season for giving and being thankful. I would say that the good Lord is watching out for you, no pun intended.
I wish everyone as happy a Christmas as you are going to have.
DC and GM use the same fluid but I have found that GM sells it cheaper. I have the info at home (I'm at work) and if you want the part #s E-mail me and I'll find it for you.

I don't know who your "dealer" is but I have had very good luck with Fletcher Chrysler in Franklin IN. The burning oil until 10,000 miles sounds like BS to me.
