    Z06....isn't it amazing ?

Re: Z06....isn\'t it amazing ? Not real happy about this....but the Jan 2002 issue of Car & Driver lists the Z06 as having the best 0-60 time and quarter mile time for *all* cars they tested in 2001! Thought maybe they didn't test the Viper, but the ACR was listed further down under best top...

    Unusual...

GenX, No, it was 280 for 30 seconds and then dropped back to 264...To put it in perspective, if the Viper was putting out the same hp/liter as that Esprit, the Viper would be pumping out 1018 hp!

    Unusual...

GenX, The Viper seems pretty reliable to me. Wanna try a piece of junk: My 1998 Jaguar XJ8L defines junk! The good thing about the Viper is that it's stripped down. It really takes away from all the problems you get with memory seats and active handling like on the Vette I use to own...

    Unusual...

Wow, I went for a ride in my Viper today and I didn't spring an oil leak, blow a gasket, need an Arrow rebuild, or fishtail into a curb!

Does this tire need to be replace or patched/pluged??

Most tire shops wouldn't do the repair because it's too close to the edge...

What should I charge for '98 OEM forged rims??

Re: What should I charge for \'98 OEM forged rims?? xqzyil - Wheel repair shops like Wheels America can do amazing things when it comes to repairing damaged wheels. Curb scrapes aren't even a challenge for the good ones. Probably much cheaper than trying to buy 1 wheel.

    What's a MAP Sensor???

Re: What\'s a MAP Sensor??? I know what a MAF sensor is...It's Mass Air Flow. I don't think Vipers have that though...

    Daytona 1 & Daytona 2 (big pix!)

So, since I see that you have had the Daytona's out with "standard" Vipers (oxymoron) here's the an important question" Have you done an accurate anaylsis of what the chicks *really* think? I definitely like the Daytona's and they have me reaching for the check book, but from my experience I...

    Test Drive Joke?

You could always use my method: Peer pressure a friend into buying one first... Then make your decision. I literally did this with a Lotus Esprit, C5 Corvette, and a Viper GTS. And they were all happy...

Tough to make a bounty these days...

I have a better shot at claiming the $5M Bin Laden bounty than the $15K bounty for finding a buyer for this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=596497531&r=0&t=0

    Viper as a road car

Man, I did a 4 hour drive from Texas to Louisiana and I just wanted to get out by the end. And that includes 2 short breaks: one for refueling, and one for explaining to the friendly Texas State Troopers that the Viper is a stripped down race car that is too powerful to control the speed...

    What I learned today

After I got back from Discount Tire (I took just the 3 wheels for the nail removal and front tire rotation in my Intrepid) I only got to drive the car about a mile before the rain started. And in that mile, I can tell you that after many stopping tests my rear brake squeak was totally gone...

Who here has owned a Corvette Prior to a Viper?

Had a 2000 Mil Yel C5 Coupe...Now have a 2001 Yel GTS...Chicks totally dig the Viper way more than the Vette.

    What I learned today

The rear greens and brake tool for my 2001 arrived at noon today -- thanks JonB!!! I went straight to work... The brake tool seems to be best when used in a squeeze and back off method, like you would with a screw tap. Otherwise it seems to bind... One man vacuum brake bleeders works great...

    Hood rattle

I'll answer my own question in case it helps somebody: The guides down by the door sill are easily adjustable left and right to get the hood tension correct. Then the two halves of the guides are easily squeezed together by hand to reduce any play while the hood is closed. No more rattle now...

The Vomit Viper Is Back On Ebay

Yea, I agree with the JH. But before this topic goes away I, as Remstupid would say, "can't be silent." Well Lord knows I tried, but I have found it impossible to feel sorry for this guy...And before you waste your pity on this particular fool, lets reflect on what pearls of wisdom he has had...

    Houston offering...

Prashant, I feel my g-tech is working as well as it can, but it is widely accepted that the unit does not give exact measurements of 0-60, 1/4 mile, HP, braking distance, and cornering g... That being said, it's pretty close. And it's considered very useful for testing before and after...

    Hood rattle

I've noticed that my hood rattles at the latches down by the door sills. You can just tap it on the side of the clam shell and you can hear the latches rattling...There's a lot of sideways play. I couldn't find anything in the archives...Has anyone already dealt with this rattle? Most rattles...
