I recommend removing the LIDAR enhancer I have only met one person who has ever been bothered for not having a front plate in CA even though they are required. Cops are more worried about revenue enhancing tickets, not fix-its, and you don't even have to worry about that...

6 1/2, not 6 1/2S. There is PLENTY of depth, but you will have to drill some holes through the metal rim to screw them down. Depending on the model you buy you will probably have to either shim the speaker out or drill another set of holes through the speaker because most speaker grills are...
Check the tail lights - I had to stuff a few small chunks of heavy black foam on to the top and bottom of each light assembly to damp them. You can verify by pressing hard w/ one hand on one light and pounding the rear bumber with the other first. If the rattling reduces w/ your hand on, bingo...
It seems like a universal failure among all car manufacturers to spend immesurable sums of money on custom non-DIN sizing, multi-part amps, propritary connectors.... and then try to "save" money by installing the absolute cheapest possible 1 way paper speakers that are worse than anything you...
I am ordering a kit tomorrow and will try posting after I install it. With the normal price for Viper parts, I figure $180 is relative pocket change and I can just toss everything if it looks weak. Now I just need new plastic scuff plates/grunge collectors to go w/ the carbon sills I picked up...
www.autoanything.com. Part 1008 is a 3 piece kit for $150 and 1250 is a 5 piece(includes door handles, but is not listed on the website. From what I can tell, there are two major companies making "wood"/"carbon fiber" dash kits, but only one makes it for a Viper.

I had Ted May insert some custom made "low-back" mufflers(basically just a corkscrew) into my snake-oyls(w/ high flow cats) for a good sound/backpressure compromise. Straight pipes buzzed like a hive of bees under the seat but that is gone and the sound is aggressive, though not quite as...
My used 97 has similar tape around the hatch seal and I seriously doubt it has had a repaint. I think this can be chalked up to Chrysler quality control. 450+ HP or Honda quality - you can't have both

$660 from Nationwide for San Jose, CA location. I was expecting a shock when I traded up from a Supra TT at $550, but was pleasantly surprised. My wife has 2 accidents(uninsured motorists!) and our total for 3 > $30K cars is around 1400.
100/300 liability
Comp/coll w/ $1000 deductible

The previous owner for my modified GTS had installed Bosch +4 plugs and it would misfire a few times during the first 2 blocks when cold and bucked like mad under 1600 RPM in heavy traffic. I swapped in cheap Champions yesterday and OMG, all the rough running is gone. Amazingly cheap/easy fix...
Silicon Valley Auto Glass (463 Blossom Hill Rd #B - 408-225-4404). They have done 5 cars for me, including 2 RX-7s that are very difficult and recently tinted my 97 GTS for $289(3 windows). They do numerous BMWs and other expensive cars. They have two brands of tint, Onyx and Granite. I had...
Fikse will give 10-15% for a direct order which is the same as I saw a few other places - ended up buying mine used. The nice think about Fikse rims are that they don't have external facing bolts that make cleaning/polishing a pain. Definitely expensive - 1100-1400 each for front/rear (before...
The stereo is an Alpine with a single multi-pin output cable (DIN?) to the rear amp. Replacing with newer/better versions of Alpine gear should be trivial, but a full replacement is a major hassle - mine took me several days to replace everything w/ high-end gear. Taking out the head unit is...
Replace the stereo I don't think the factory receiver (looks like an Alpine or copy) has great FM sensitivity. Sony, Pioneer and the latest high-end Blaupunkts have the best reception, but need new amps (or adaptors?). I'm not sure if Kenwood's DIN plug layout is the same. The windshield...
The door latch covers are a horrible design - definitely early 90s chrysler. They are just held on by friction and you have to slide them off (can't remember forward or backward). There is one large screw underneath. Putting the covers back on is luck - you just have to hope that friction still...
The Snake-Oyl system w/ headers is LOUD! You will hear it pulling away gently from a stop at least 4+ blocks away. It does sound great, but I ended up putting corkscrew inserts into mine so that I did not wake the neighborhood all the time. The inserts helped (it is just Loud(single cap) now)...
The key is to use a very mildly abrasive, special purpose glass cleaner first - I bought mine at Grand Auto. This strips off all the old residue from years of smog fallout and you will notice that it causes water to stay in a perfectly even layer on your windows - it will break away in many...
JonB is absolutely correct. I bought my 97 GTS w/ about $22K in parts(Brembos, SVSi headers, ECU, Koni ACR shocks..., no labor costs) for just a few $K over going prices(though admittedly an extra good steal ). I then spent less than $2K to change a few things to make it more streetable...
Outrageously expensive, but the fit is excellent and on/off time is 1 minute. I bought mine(blue/white) because my last Supra TT and Volvo 850R looked like they had been sprayed by a shotgun after 2-3 years. Just make sure that if it ever gets wet, take it off IMMEDIATELY and then brush off any...
My 97 GTS often pauses at 1500 RPM for about 20-30 seconds when decelerating from 2000+ RPM before going back to a normal idle. This gets obnoxious when trying to coast down while waiting for someone to get out of the left lane because it only happens around 20-30% of the time, forcing me to hit...
According to this thread, the Bosch plugs would seem to be a bad idea due to 4x interference. However, the previous owner put them in my car - should I chuck them?
Just bought a new SpeedLingerie bra - outrageously expensive but it looks very good(blue/white) though it is slightly darker than the body. It took 1/2 to install alone, due do the plastic fenderwell pieces. After the initial stretch, it should be easy on/off. Leave it in the sun(black side up)...
Ted has been a big help fixing a few things on my modified, used 97 that I bought a couple of months ago(springs, ebrake...). Be prepared to spend some extra time - he will go over your car with you and will answer pretty much anything. Definitely not a "dealer" drop-off experience.
