Re: My \'95 cranks 3 or 4 times before it fires up. Normal?
Try cycing the key no/off 3 or 4 times. If it starts right up it is likely to be the check valve in the fuel pump module. My 97 has this problem. Fuel pressure drops to less than 20 within 7 seconds with engine off. With zero...
Here is a re-post of my only experience racing a Z06:
Spent last night at Sacramento Raceway for the monday night drags (bracket racing). I was happy with my consistant times but not my MPH. Anyways, here are my 4 runs with a 12.2 dial in:
2.09/12.34/116.4
2.07/12.24/116.7
2.04/12.22/116.5...
Jon,thanks for digging up Joel's post. Joel was the pioneer on documenting this adjustment and I did exactly what he posted. I did re-adjust my rear shocks to 1 turn after a month or so and it seems better. I have a Harbor freight spring compressor that I used which worked well for the stock...
Stopping 60mph to 0
Stock Gen II Viper 155 ft. (Per Road and Track)
Stoptech Fronts 113 ft (per Stoptech)
Stoptech 4 wheel 113 ft (per Stoptech)
Gen III <100 ft
Let me know if you have any trouble with the springs/shocks as I live in the area. I have removed mine a few times to adjust the shocks, which you should do while you have the springs off. You can gently pry downward on the upper control are after removing the bolts to remove the spring/shock...
I have to agree. The "Tech Notes" was a joke. Summary of the questions/answers:
Q: Is it ok to use 93 octane fuel as I can't find 91? (A: yes, duh)
Q: My 94 Viper has the original coolant, should I change it? (A: yes, duh)
Q: I lost my service manual, can you tell me how to change my water...
I have a Roe setup which looks a lot like the sbkim has. It gives a very white light unlike the cheezy blue color of the OEM BMW lights or fake HID's. Anyone know what K it is?
If you are concerned about $$, get the stoptech fronts with rear SS lines. This will stop in the same distance as the 4 wheel setup for about 2k$. You will still have to retain the ugly rear calipers so the poser appeal is far less....
Re: oil change $\'s
You can change the oil filter in much less time than it takes to drive to and from the local lube place to have it done by some teenaged kid. This may sound sick, but I like working on my car so much that I look forward to oil changes! :)
The skip shift disengages at about 20 mph in 1st. You will never notice it. I have driven my Viper ifor 3 years including stop/go traffic and have had it activate only twice.
So much for "pretty sure". I stand corrected. I have only replaced my rear rotors and you are right, they come off without caliper removal if you remove the pads. The only time I have removed my front rotors was to do the Stoptech upgrade. There goes my plan for separate track rotors/pads which...
" Then, you have to figure out which caliper mounting bolts to remove and which size wrenches to use. Then you have to buy a torque wrench, but you also need a service manual to retorque the bolts to their proper specs...etc etc. It can turn into a lengthy process."
I am pretty sure that the...
I would definately be interested. Sean Roe apparently stopped selling his kit and there are a lot of issues in doing this yourself that it sounds like you have worked out.
"is this green wire one of the EEM connector wires?"
No, the green wire is a separate wire unattached to anything. It is terminated with a rubber shield. Push a test lead or piece of wire into the end of the green lead and touch the other end to ground. At least this is how it was on my 97 GTS.
My 17 month old daughter just broke my Viper coffee mug and I can't seem to find another one. Had Gen II Viper logo with the word Viper. Any idea where to find one?
Thanks
At a track event at Thunderhill, an older M3 driver told me he couldn't believe how well my car stopped. Said he nearly rearended me on a turn due to how quick it braked. That is with the supplied Axxis pads. On one turn, with a Z06 in pursuit, I locked up a front tire. The guy in...
I have the 13" rotor front Stoptechs which have smaller pitons than stock. They are much better than stock due to the better balance. I suspect that Tom's set up should equal the stopping distance of my setup. The two piece Aerorotors however, are far superior to stock and should help a lot in...
Jack,
I would love a copy of your documented install, particularly the parts you used. I don't think Sean Roe sells a kit anymore. My email is [email protected]
Thanks
