I also use Carbotech, but we tend to drive our cars fairly hard. I currently use XP16s in the front and XP8 or 10s in the rear.
Wear is very good with Carbotechs.
That was a picture from a month ago. A Gen 4 hood is on the car now, as well as the ACR cannards.
Dream car? Other than a GT1, you bet. This is such a neat car to drive. We are finally getting the handling down pat. I used a set of Hoosier A compound tires for three races (two at The Glen and...
Stan,
This car is so much fun to drive. I have the Tilton lightweight flywheel/clutch assembly, and it is so much more fun to shift. The custom exhaust system exits the right side and sounds so good. This is way more fun than the old T1 car. You will love yours when it is done.
Big double SCCA National at my favorite race track, Watkins Glen, this past week end (7/10 & 7/11). After experiencing an almost catastrophic wreck during testing at Mid Ohio June 16th, I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make this event. But the crew at Kryderacing put in a herculean effort...
I don't know if this is the appropriate place for this to be discussed, or even if it should be mentioned on the site at all, but here goes...
How does one, short of legal action, deal with a forum vendor who is not supplying the parts that have been paid for?
I have been chasing one vendor...
Race #2 on the road to sorting out my new Viper Coupe STO car was held at Nelson Ledges in Garretsville, OH. This is the second closest track to my home, so most people think it is my "home track." Let's just say my "home away from home," as Mid Ohio is truly closest to my heart.
I was a field...
This must be Sam. Dude, your car is beautiful. You kept real good care of it. It is almost a shame to race it now, but race it I will.
Silver stripes on red? Race wins will be marked with a Buckeye leaf on the roof...:2tu:
Ah, maybe not. The company I contacted, which said "no problem," is not returning my phone calls. At least they haven't billed my credit card yet, unlike one vendor I am dealing with...
I will be at Nelson Ledges this weekend, as well as the July 4th weekend.
July 10-11 I am heading to Watkins Glen for the big SCCA ouble National. Maybe Beaverun in August to race or Road America to test.
The car is not quite finished. This was a wrecked car we bought from the insurance company after it was totaled. The paint was applied to the fascia and the left front fender only, because I was waiting on my CF hood. When it became apparent that the aftermarket hood was not going to arrive in...
I thought I would share these photos of my new race car:
The car is a 2006 Coupe that is built for SCCA's Super Touring Over (STO) class. Mininum wieght is 3300 lbs, and the motor makes 525 RWHP.
Mark Jorgenson @ Woodhouse, Jon @ PartsRack, and the gang at Roe Racing...
Let's put things in perspective: in 2005 Scotty White had a T1 Viper doing 32's flat in qualifying for the Run Offs. That car weighted 3560 lbs and breathed threw a 56mm restrictor plate.
The T1 Viper had to weight 3600 lbs with me in it. In STO the minimum is 3300 (again with me in it), but we are about 50-60 lbs heavy.
I have a Lexan windshield that will be installed after this weekend, plus a CF Gen 4 hood that I am patiently waiting for, and supposedly a Lexan rear window...
