Very well stated above by all. The only other differences you may notice between the 96 and 99+: * the late model cars will have power mirrors * less NGR in later cars (Neutral Gear Rattle)- Tom Friend

What is the best replacement battery???
My guess is he is talking about shelf life- when disconnected. The steady drain the PCM & stereo place upon the battery means that any battery will drain without a tender. I replaced mine with a store-brand unit from Les Schwab- fit great, cranks over every time. 5 year warranty- that's better...- Tom Friend

The proper break in period is not in the manual; at least not the '99 book. The text in the manual was a cut-and-paste job from the Caravan owners manual. 50mph in 6th is idling, come one now! Extended Warranty
To answer the original question, I suggest the extended warrantee. Yes, get it and forget about it. My Viper has been rather reliable- so far. But, I have only had it for 12 months and 5500 miles. So far, I have replaced the battery, and had numerous little fit & finish items that were covered...- Tom Friend

Viper legroom?
I am 6 foot, with a 32 inch inseam. I fit just fine in my GTS, even with a helmet. My seat is not all the way aft either. Also, the Gen II cars have adjustable pedals- keep that in mind when you are considering the merits of the various years. BTW, my pedals could be moved forward another 2...- Tom Friend
