Just put a holding deposit down on a 94 black RT/10. Has GTS wheels, and both tops. 21K miles.

It's in Florida, so I have to make the trek to go claim my prize. Tried to convince the fiancee to make the trip this weekend (its ONLY 10 hours one way LOL), but it looks like next week will be the big trip.

I hope i'm getting the right car... sale price was 40K

Drive it back. Have fun. Georgia is a short state by way of I-95. What kind of Michelins does it have? I hear the stock tires were treacherous on Gen I.

Stock tires (Michelin XGTZ's) were bad at "following ruts" (actually good at it - too good!)
smile.gif
They are also poor performers in the rain. They are very sticky on dry roads, and great for dry track racing. If the car has GTS wheels, it probably doesn't have XGTZ's. Sounds like a great car at a great price!
Enjoy. Drive it home!!!!
PS: Click on my avatar too see what a black 94 w/ GTS wheels looks like (mine has Eibach lowering springs that drop it about an inch)

MadMaxx,

CONGRATS!!! Sounds like you got a great deal. Take it easy on the way back...listen to these guys when they tell you how to "learn" about your car. They know what they are talking about.

Drive safely on your way home,

I had a guy from Kentucky buy both my Road Runner and 'Cuda sight-unseen! He's sending down a transport truck to pick them up.

So you guys feel 40K is a valid price? This is my first, so I want to make sure she is the right deal.

Kinda figures that Mad Max would buy a black car.

Just make sure to add the weapons to it like the movie

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get this car checked out by a local VCA member or reputable, Viper knowledgable Dodge Dealer before you spend the money. There have been too many horror stories about cars coming out of Florida - wrecked, stolen, not what they are supposed to be, etc. Is the current owner a VCA member? Is it at an "exotic car dealer?" Can you call the local VCA pres and find out about the car? Carfax? Dodge Service history? GET IT ALL before you part with your money. Your Viper experience should be fun- and getting a bad car will certainly spoil the ownership experience. Email me if I can help.

Life is too short to get a crappy Viper...

I'm trying to get all the info. It's from an exotic car dealer, http://www.lussierms.com if you want to check it.

Although I did put a holding deposite, it's a far cry from final. A dodge mechanic mailed me about one of his customers cars for sale in NC.. a little under 4 hours from me. So, i'm keeping my eyes open until zero-hour

Like Janni says. Get the VIN and get the Dodge history faxed to your local Viper dealer/tech. Carfax also. Have a VCA person or another dealer Viper tech and body shop go over it. Join VCA
and enjoy your new Viper !

Be very careful... Check out this thread and amke sure you do ALL your research.

If it was Tom Sessions that emailed you about a car, you can be assured that he knows the car inside *** out - Tom is our preferred Carolinas Region Tech. He donates a LOT of his time to the club, he's the tech inspector at Viper Days, and has bee ndoing a pretty good job of tryoing ot be like Bill Pemberton - although he has to work some on the voices.... (inside joke)

Really, Florida cars make me nervous. Heck Gerald ended up with the car from the Pac NW and he's IN Florida! More often than not, we have seen problem cars there - ESPECIALLY at exotic car dealers. While there may be some good ones - lots of them don't get the best cars- they get the cars that have changed hands many times and were not taken care of like true one owner enthusiast cars. You are truly better off buying from a VCA member where you can research the car within the club and you have many more resources available.

OK, taking off my Mother Hen outfit now... sorry.

Be careful. I looked at this car too but was advised by several people to be wary of Lussierms. It may be a gem but if I were you I'd have it checked out by a very certified viper tech AND someone knowledgeable from the board. You can very be too sure when dealing with a $40k purchase.

Yes it was Tom Sessions. Spoke to him over the phone, definetly knows his stuff! I'm very hopeful he can put me in touch w/ the owner who is trying to sell, so we can work soemthing out. It would put my mind at ease greatly to have a knowlegable mechanic who has delt w/ said car say it's in primo shape!

I'm canceling the deposite on the FL car. Much farther than I thought and can't get it inspected easily.

Wise decision. As Janni indicates, your Viper experience should be a positive one and not a troubled one. If you have any doubts at all, it's best to walk away. There are many very nice Vipers out there, just be patient - you'll be glad you did!!!

Good call on dropping that car. I got my car in FL, but it was from an individual, and 3 viper owners from here (Chuck, Gerald, and Antonio) checked it out for me before I went down.

Tom Sessions is a very knowledgeable viper tech, and I would think any car he is familiar with and says is good is worth buying.

I'm my search I found many cars "sound and look good" over the net and phone but when they are inspected you feel totally ripped off. I gave up on FL dealers. Almost every one lied about something. Watch out for Canada cars that have been converted too. Run carfax, warranty history at a Dodge dealer and have the car inspected top to bottom.

Ok, I have about 42K to play with as of today. Want to try and find a car that is closer (GA,NC, that area) so I can make a drive in a day to inspect...

Just how does one go about getting the Dodge history on someone else's car? Is this public knowledge? Can you just call a dodge dealer with the VIN and they will gladly get you some sort of report?

Does the report basically include any work done under warranty, or would you get any and all work done on the car at Dodge dealerships?

thanks
Tomer
