$1110 for set of 17\" Pilot Sports

I know I have seen posts of people looking for a good place to buy 17" Pilot Sports, since all the deals seem to be on the 18" ones.

I got a price for rears 335/25/17 and fronts 275/40/17 for $1110 plus shipping and handling. Compared to tirerack.coms price of $1248 for the same tires.

Does not seem like a bad price to me. Anyone know of a cheaper place?

I bought a set last spring from PartsRack (JonB). Very close to that price. I am sure (hope) he will respond with a price. I will need another set of rears very soon

. I say support the vendors here, if its close. JMHO

Thanks, Jeff, for the plug of vendor support. ALL vendors here, paying for the privilige, appreciate it.

But Sometimes my advice is "buy elsewhere"

So if you can truly buy 17" Pilot Sports, not some weird michelin secondary brand/style whose name escapes me, neither PartsRack or Tirerack can touch $1110, but thanks for asking.

A few months back, someone posted about getting surprised with a different PILOT for the price.... not an MXX-3 or a Sport.

Does kicking up the $5 bucks to a 285 in the front create any issues, I wouldn't think so considering some run 315s correct?

Would the 315 line up on the 10" front.......

Just talking (writing?) out loud, I would go with 285s and maybe get a little more rubber to help rim rash.

Jon, are you close on this, I would keep my bucks in the community as well!!!

285s up front are a handling and braking bonus on street, as well as rim-hazard protection. 315s too big for street, OK for track. They sandblast your doors, and a track alignmment makes 315s work great.

PartsRack is $100 off, so I suggested that vendor IF-IF-IF they have gen-U-whine Sports !

How would you know if they were not really Michelin Pilot Sports? Other than how they drive and ride.

I was told once that the reason Sears can offer such good deal on Pilots is because they are some generic branch of the Pilots. Does not sound likely to me, to be this misleading.

I was just curious, anyone ever seen a tire company sell tires as a certain brand and they are not.

There is actually a tire called a Michelin Pilot X something that is available in Viper sizes (was available) was more of an all season Viper tire with significantly different tread pattern. A club member went to a local tire place and ended up with an oddball front tire. As long as it's Pilot Sport, you should be OK.
