19\" VR1s and Eibach Lowered Gen II: Rub Problems

I've read a few posts from people regarding the 19" Forgeline VR1s rubbing on lowered cars. I have a tentative deal on a set and I wanted to see if any of you guys can comment further on this. How much is your car lowered? When does it rub? Are they flush with the fenders or do they stick out? Thanks in advance.

Re: 19

I'm being told by guys with 20's that they are OK.
I have Eibachs and stock 18's. I thought there would be a problem with anything larger. But I guess not.

Re: 19

I've heard that there were problems specific to the Forgeline 19" VR1s

Re: 19

Yeah, mine rubbed big time with 345 pilots. My red car is lowered 1 1/2" in the rear. They hit on lots of bumps, and I found rubber shavings in my fenderwell. Almost ruined a set of $800 tires.
I put the wheels on my gen I, and they too stick out, but its not lowered so its fine for now.
Forgeline can cut 1/4" off the back sides of the mounting flanges for me, but that's it. I don't think itll be enough.
I heard the 25 series pirellis don't rub. (too short)

Re: 19

Earl,

Your best bet is to call Forgeline directly. Talk to Tom. 1800-886-0093.

I have the VR3 19 inch wheels. My viper is lowered 2.5 inches. My rear wheels are 13.5inches wide. With a 3.5 in. lip. My rear tires size is 345-30-19. He did it all for me, without any rubbing issues whatsoever. [image]

I have 20" Startech's all the way around my car as well as the car being lowered 2.5" and I have not had any problems with rubbing.

Re: 19

Your rear tires will rub on the sides when you hit bumps on the highway, they will not rub in city driving as this will not make the springs compress as much, the fronts will rub when you raise your hood whether the car is lowered or not. You will have to turn your tires to the sides before you open your hood, this will actually ub away at your hood vs rub tire material away.

Re: 19

Thanks guys. Based on your responses. I will pass on the 19" VR1s. I'll have to stick to trying to find 18" VR1s (silver preferable). I am also considering the CCW sp600s and DPEs. With the CCW's I'd have to get them painted to achieve the effect that I want.

Re: 19

i have a brand new set of 18" forgeline WC3 wheels built to the same specs as the VR1's for sale. VR1 specs are 18X11 front and 18X13 rear. the offsets and backspacing are identical to the VR1's specs. the wheels are full polish (silver) and have never been mounted. they include the viper logo centercaps. i will sell them for $200 less than you can buy them new. i paid $3,200 for them so your cost would be $3,000. you pay the shipping and we have a deal. PM if you are interested in buying them.
