Hi Everyone. I'm looking at purchasing a 1992, but don't know where the front hood number stamping supposed to be. Can someone tell me the location and if it's a stamping like the engine VIN or if it's just a sticker? Image would be great. Thank you.

No Viper experts here? Can you recommend another message board I might be able to access? Thank you in advance.

Sorry, I'm not sure who JonB is? Can you explain who has this information and how to get a hold of him?

The hood number is located on the inside, driver’s side where the black guide bracket is located. This bracket is used to position the back end of the hood into a “u” shaped receiver down by the side rocker cover. The number will not likely match the VIN because it is hand scribed hood manufacturing (sequence?) number. It appears to have been made with a Dremel tool. The bracket may cover all or part of the number. For 1992, I would expect that the number could be as high as 800.
I have been tracking the early Vipers from the beginning. I have contributed more information about them in the IVR - “Features by year, 1992-1993” VCA web page. Check it out with the tab in the header above. Patrick

Not sure what value these numbers are....the VIN is what counts for all the builds, my 92 engine had a different chalked number then the VIN, off one digit (??) these things can drive you goofy, I was always told the VIN is it...

I have a database that has all the 92's, that was easy. Getting 285 people to share their hood number and VIN to add to said database would be difficult
