2002 FE GTS Coupe vs 2002 FE GTS ACR

Hello Guys/Gals,

I have a few questions on the 2002 FE GTS Vipers. (Regular Coupe vs ACR Coupe) What are the differences between the Base Coupe vs the ACR Coupe.

I know that the ACR came with Smooth Tubes and Different Rims, but is there a suspension difference or brakes difference, shocks, ETC? Anything Else?

Also is there a noticable difference in riding comfort or handling? Stiffer?

Any info is greatly appreciated, as I am looking at a few Nice 02's FE out there.

Tons of threads out there on this topic. Short answer is big difference in ride, handling and value.
Dynamic race shocks with race springs (ultra stiff rear springs, many have been changed out)
BBS Wheels
Smooth tubes
No fog lights
Five point harness's
ACR specific oil filter adapter with no bypass/max pressure
K&N air filters
Dash plaque
ACR badging
Non comfort group cars had no a/c for weight savings

The frame has places to tie-down on a trailer.
Not sure this is accurate, as far as I know all GTS frames for a specific year are the same (as in all have the tie down points). If I'm wrong I'd love to hear about it.

ACR's come with the illusion they are the stuff and the others are not.

If you plan on tracking your car or using it as an unwise method to invest your money, the ACR is the way to go. Otherwise, they are all the stuff. No illusions.

Question: "Also is there a noticable difference in riding comfort or handling? Stiffer?"....YES, if you are sensitive to same...especially on a road trip...at least in our 99 ACR. The later 2000, all 2001, & and 2002 ACR's had different shocks (can't remember about springs).



Another difference...about $14,000.00 more MSRP with A/C and radio add back.

The FE's seem to be the most collectible GenII next to the 98 GTS-R. Lots of very low mileage garage queens out there.

Had my chance to buy a FE ACR, but missed out on the sale. That would be the ONLY car I would ever give up my sapphire ACR for. Ad mentioned the FE ACR is pretty rare car, but it all comes down to whichever makes you happiest.

If you plan on driving it I would go for the non ACR car. I hear they ride rough, the shocks are VERY expensive and tend to leak often. I guess you could buy an ACR, swap the shocks out for a regular set and store the originals.

Investment wise the ACR is probably the better car due to the low numbers vs hundreds of FE's and probably thousands of Red Gen II's.

I was close to buying a FE. I used to drive past a local Dodge dealer that had one sitting out on the lot for over a year and I would drool over it every time I drove by. It was a Steel Gray GTS that made me fall in love with the GTS and I was doomed from the day I saw that car at a Cruise Weekend in Wildwood NJ.
