2005 VIPER SRT-10 HEFFNER TWIN TURBO PROJECT</font>

My Viper is on its way to Heffner’s new shop in Sarasota. After looking into all the options out there, I decided to go with the Best of the Best.
My Viper is going to get a special and custom treatment by Hefnner. Some new tricks from Jason. I believe it will be one of the fastest if not the fastest SRT-10 out there when it’s completed. :headbang: :headbang:
Thank you Jason. :2tu: :2tu:
I’ll keep you guys updated through this thread.

Here are the pictures of my baby getting picked up by the carrier. It's going to be a long trip, 3,000 miles.

Man, with that many pictures of just getting loaded on the truck, I may need to get another cable line when you start snapping photos of the car after it's done! :2tu:

Seriously, great pictures and great story with what will undoubtedly be a VERY happy ending. We look forward to hearing the results in the not-too-distant future...

Oh this beast is going to hit the strip hard and mean. We'll see what it's capable of...

And a little secret, this is not going to be your general Heffner Twin Turbo. There is going to be lots of extras on this beast...

what size are those? 42Rs?

Nooooo.... The GT42R's are huge.  They won't fit anywhere in the engine bay and they won't be right for my application. I've yet to see any street driven car with twin GT42R or GT42RS.

Think a little smaller. Not much. Just a little smaller.... ;)

I've heard bad stories about McLeod on the alley. Definitely don't want to replace a $2,000 clutch every 400 miles.
What kind of clutch are the High HP guys using?

The beast was delivered to Heffner's shop at Sarasota this afternoon.
It's all theirs now.
It's gonna take some time before the beast will be completed but I'll keep you updated through this thread. :headbang: :headbang:

Let us know what clutch / pp combo you go with. I haven't found one that will hold the power very long, yet, and you will have more of it that I do!

You will also need a smog connection. Good luck with that one.

Keep the photos / story coming.

You hit it right on spot bro. As you've said there isn't many clutches out there that will hold 700 RWTQ or in my case much more than that

RPS is working on a triple carbon clutch but that won't be ready for at least 5-6 months and I've heard horror stories about RPS clutches spinning out and destroying the whole drivetrain or in one case cutting the fuel line and causing the whole car to burn on the dyno. Scary..

I don't like SPEC clutches that much. They are very heavy on the pedal and chatter a lot.

I don't know much about Centerforce clutches.

I wish somebody made a triple carbon clutch with the light flywheel that will hold anything...

I won't need a smog connection until 2010. In the smog hating state of Kalifornia, you don't need to smog your car for 5 years if you bought it brand new from the dealer.
Hopefully, by 2010 The Republic of Kalifornia will be a country on its own... :D :D

UPDATE

My engine and bunch of other parts are out of the car. Ready to start the build.

My engine sure looks clean with only 1,000 miles.
I'll be selling all the stock parts that come out. If you are interested in 2005 Viper SRT-10 parts with 1,000 miles, please PM me.

Hey there.
RSI was one of the tuners I was considering to send my Viper to before I made my call on Heffner. Gerald and Jason at RSI are great people.
There's no top secret items in my car.  I just need to check with Heffner before I can give out details. I guess I shouldn't even given out the names of the turbos going into my car. Oh well...

I'd definitely love to line up next to you and hit it.
How's the procedure at Sacramento Raceway? What rules and regulations do they enforce on a private rental test &amp; tune day?

I don't know any dragstrip that's free.

Test &amp; Tune during winter at Sacramento Raceway is only on Saturdays from 12-4PM (gates open at 9:30AM) and each car/driver pays $45, $10 for spectators.
They say that street legal cars are limited to 3 runs, but how many that you actually get in depends on how many people are there in total. When their are big crowds, you are lucky to get in 3 runs for the night. But I've gotten a dozen or so runs in on a couple of the Saturday sessions when only the die-hard racers are out there.

One big hitch for you two is that unless you have a rollbar installed you will be limited to running slower than 11.49 trap speeds (recently dropped for newer cars down from 11.99). Strictly, as a convertible the limit is 13.99 without a rollbar, but most SRT-10 drivers that I've seen do OK (up to a point). And I'm not so sure if they impose the 5-points belt use, but I'm sure that it depends on how fast you guys run.

I believe that Sears Point is more strict overall on the rules when your car gets teched.

Just make sure to post here if you two are planning to run at Sacramento soon, as it would be great fun to watch.

I meant free in terms of inspections, regulations, number of runs, etc not money wise.
At Infenion (Sears Point) here, you need to go through a tech inspection. Then you dial in. You need to try to hit what you dial in. If you faster, you break your dial time and they kick you out. Your reaction time has to be within 1 sec or they kick you out. It's always crowded and you hardly get 3 runs. It *****.
I don't know how Sacramento strip works but I'd rather pay and race on a private track rental for 1-2 hours.
I'll be running 9.xx. Rules change among different raceways but a hardtop or rollbar, helmet, 5 or 6 point harness, full fire proof clothes will probably be enough. Some require parachutes and external battery cut-off switch for 9.xx'ers.

Test and Tune is exactly that. Just running to see how well your car does. It's not like grudge match or bracket racing where you need to dial-in or hit particular times.
There is a tech done to see that your car is race-worthy, and they will warn you, and subsequently kick you off if you run too fast for your car's safety equipment as judged by NHRA guidelines.

"Rules change among different raceways but a hardtop or rollbar, helmet, 5 or 6 point harness, full fire proof clothes will probably be enough. Some require parachutes and external battery cut-off switch for 9.xx'ers."

Yep, those are the enforced guidelines. I did hear that you need a parachute when running quicker than 10.0, and all of the cars that I've seen running sub-10s at Sacramento had full roll cages, chutes, and special fire equipment. But these were all trailered, dedicated drag cars.

I've heard of different wealthy hard-core racers renting a track privately from time to time around the country (to run without the NHRA mandated safety equipment) , but nobody locally so far. I'm sure that it's possible with enough cash and a willing track. :2tu:

You are on. We'll do it once I get the beast back from Heffner. Is the RSI twin turbo a GEN 2 or GEN 3? You have a Lingenfelter C5 too? How much is that puppy putting down? :headbang:
