What did they change in 2006 to get 10 extra horsepower?

They installed a K&N sticker in the rear window! Ads 50rwhp minimum!

Nothing, it was a change in the way testing is done for the HP rating. If I recall correctly it was because they had to use an actual exhaust system not a "simulated" setup. I also remember may import cars loosing hp.

This is correct, the standards became tougher, and more accurate. Some imports "lost" while some domestics "gained".

It changed right after the 2006 zo6 came out with a certified 505 hp. So the viper was also certified and came up with 510hp
