During a Poker Run today...nice!

And then about 30 minutes later...my bad luck with the car continues. Notice the clouds in the above picture? Well, the skies let loose a few minutes later. Going down a slight hill, there was standing water at the bottom. I notice it and drop a gear, as to not hit the breaks and throw the weight of the car forward (we were driving cautiously and under the speed limit due to the conditions...maybe 50mph? I just know I went from 5th to 4th). As soon as I hit the puddle, it was over. The rear kicked out hard to the right. I was heading straight for the guardrail on the opposite side of the road (thank God there wasn't any traffic coming at the time, as there were a bunch of semis on the road). I corrected and the rear spun the other way back towards the guardrail to my right. As I'm facing the opposite direction, I see KDR83 in his silver GTS spinning out as well. Thankfully, he did not hit anything. My rear smacked the guardrail and then the front lightly hit it as well.

The rear quarter is cracked, rear bumper is cracked, taillight and reverse light are cracked, front fender is scraped, both driver's side HREs are curbed, and the driver's side rear wheel's toe is off. The positive thing about the story...no one was hurt!

The guardrail I hit. I was coming toward the view the picture was taken. There was a stream of water running from the right of the screen to the left...

Damn Ryan.... I can't imagine how you're feeling after this. Keep your head up man. As you've said, most important thing is no one was hurt.

Thanks, Doug. I screamed a bunch of expletives and wanted to drive the car into a tree, but I was at least able to drive the 80 mile trip back home. I was scared ****less having to drive over the Sunshine Skyway after what happened. It started pouring as I began the climb, so I pulled over for a bit. I ended up going about 30 mph over the bridge while shaking the whole time. The rearend got light on me for a second as soon as I got onto the bridge.

Sorry to hear about your recent misfortune. I know it doesn't help right now but it could've been worse, both for you and the car.
The recent unexpected south Florida monsoons we've been having are detremental for vipers. Hope you fix it quick. :2tu:

It could have been much worse given the conditions and the road I was on.

After closer inspection this morning, my rear wheel has a slight bend on the outside lip. The driver's side headlight is scraped, and there are scratches on the hood/mirror/roof/trunk from rolling back into the bushes.:(

Being a native of FL I know exactly what Ryan's talking about. Some roads, even new ones, will channel water from one side to the other without any warning sign. Had the same thing happen to me once and there isn't anything you can do to prevent an accident without a heads up.

Glad no one was hurt and be sure to post photos of when she's all fixed.

Hey man your photos look great. I noticed your exhaust was facing down under the hole, does your exhaust move or rotate over time? I do like the subtle green peeking out of the wheels! Oh **** I didn't see the second post pictures of you crashing it. I guess the exhaust question doesn't mean much after that incident

Sorry to hear that, I remember after I spun out the first time I lost all the confidence in my tires and in pushing the car around curves... didn't get it back until I did an Autocross. Obviously you were still dealing with the initial shock but if you still feel wary behind the wheel after a couple weeks an Autocross might help :)

The only exhaust mod to the car when I bought it were cat deletes, so I never worried about the tip fitment. As soon as I get my car back, I'm having my Belanger headers installed and an exhaust fabricated...no more crooked tips! Haha

That's a great idea. I felt confident in the car after doing the figure eights in the car after I had the diff fluid changed...I couldn't believe the difference my KWs made. I wasn't pushing the car at all when the accident happened, but I know the whole drive home I was scared ****less.

Dang Ryan. I have the same tires. I've driven in the rain before and notice they hydroplane at around 70mph. Sorry to hear about you car, you've been through a lot of down time.
