I went back to the dealership last night to pick up the plates for my JGC and I asked the salesman if he was able to sharpen his pencil a bit on the ACR and he said that he hadn't done anything since we last spoke but he would give it another shot.

Offer whatever you want - I would guess 90 is a good starting point. The only risk is that he :lmao: at you - who cares?

Good luck!

Hell, offer 75 if you're going to be rejected anyway,
I'm sure this dealer has had plenty of low ball offers on it, and isn't interested in them or it would be sold.
The big time dealers aren't giving anything close to that on '10's, so why should Mr. Small Change dealer give it away at cost?

You assume he is desperate to sell it...wrong..this is just one car and I'll bet he LIKES having it on the dealership floor it attracts attention.

I'm not gonna argue with that Jon... When I pulled out of my street last week to buy a new daily driver I could have made a left or a right and I decided to make a left. Left turn to the dealer with the ACR on the floor:2tu: and right to the dealer with no ACR.

It does seem a lil' odd that a 2010 car is still on a lot being sold as new since we are halfway through '12. Has anyone ever heard of this before with a non-Viper?

I can only imagine BS-ing with the fellas telling them you bought a brand new ACR and then it comes out that it's a '10...:dunno:

If dealers just wanted traffic they could also get a ********* to stand on the corner or park a Lambo...:2tu:

Either way, keep us posted.

Yes, how embarrassing owning the fastest production car in the world.
I'd be mortified.

It'll only be the "fastest production car in the world" until the next fastest car in the world comes along. There have probably been 4,287,965 of them since I have been around...

Interesting how you took my line to mean embarassing and thus generated a snarky response from you...

The question remains: You ever heard of a 2.5 year old car sitting on a lot and being sold as new?

You're a perfect example of someone who owns a Viper, and yet understands absolutely nothing about it.
Should they just have the leftover stock destroyed, or sell brand new cars as used?
They are leftovers from the last year the Viper was made.
These are 100+K cars, not 20K Honda's and we are still in a downward economy.

What's your point?
You really should have bought a Vette.

probably I don't understand it neither. Would you be so kind and explain it to us?

I wonder what they will ask for those brand new 2 y/o cars after gen V presentation...

Re: Vette - been there, done that. I'll say the same about the Viper once it's time has passed too. It appears you roll a different way and that's fine but it would be pretty boring if we were all the exact same, no?

I just asked a ? about why would a 2.5 year old car still be on the new car lot, geez. If someone knows why this might be, please let me know as I cannot find any "old" Lambos, Ferraris, etc. that are still being sold as new.

Silver, viper production is alot different than others, the plant started '10 production in mid-April of '10 and finished up in late July. By the time most of these were shipped other manufacturers were building and shipping 11's. As for other OEM's, autotrader shows 50 new '10 corvettes and 30 new Porsche's scattered around the US, and I'm sure some of them were built in the fall of '09. Probably not cost effective for dealers but this happens all the time.

Funny thing with Vipers is that I've seen 92's and GTS's selling recently still on MSO and never titled. I saw this morning that the #165 2002 FE car just showed up on a popular internet auction site with 80 miles and still on MSO.

Waitttttttt a second here. You mean that when a Viper is unsold in that model year it is not sent to a compactor?
And someone can actually buy a leftover Viper from a previous model year??
This is a hard concept to get my head around.

Sarcasm is typically used when a discussion is nearing it's conclusion because one side no longer has a valid discussion point...I should know because I do it all the time :smirk:

Didn't mean to get your ******* in a ruffle. Just asked a question about why old ACRs would still be sitting around on dealer lots even though they are 2.5 years old. You are obviously a Viper fanatic and I am glad there are some of them around - telling someone they should "buy a Vette" becuase they don't agree with you is something 12-year olds say on the playground...I should know because I used to be one :smirk:

Drive safe. See you at VOI?

These forums would be pretty dull if everyone knew as much as you about the Viper. We should petition to have the forum renamed to "ViperJon's Endless Viper Wisdom Dispensary".

The ironic part is you claiming the Viper is the fastest production car. Sure it might hold the lap record for a production car on a specific track in Germany, but it's far from the world's "Fastest" production car. Take a deep breath, we're all here as enthusiasts, no need to jump on the guy.

Ummm...let's see....."My" claim about the fastest production car...
Pretty sure it's not just my claim about the production car record...apparently the VCA thinks so too...and SRT...and Dodge....virtually every legitimate source...
Oh...and did I forget to mention the ten or more tracks around the US that the ACR holds the production car track record at...oops....silly me..
You noobs should really read and learn more about the car you own.

Arn't you the guy that started a thread about the 600 hp club. And hoped the Viper would belong too it?:rolaugh:

So what Mr. Shooter T One? If I must explain the reason for my post then you probably won't understand...:2tu:

When I was a kid there was a fight between two kids because one loved Kawasaki, the other loved Yamaha. When I was older it turned into Ford/Chevy. Now it appears those same kids own Vipers. Apparently this forum is occupied by some of the folks on 'the other site'?

I wonder if it's the same b/w Ferraris and Lambo??

To each their own but, chillax, y'all!

Yep. I'm old enough to remember AC Cobras, Shelby Mustangs, Challenger TAs, Panteras, and Italias sitting on lots for a couple years before being sold.

I bought an '02 ACR new in January of '04.

Nor any more odd than more than a handful of new 2010 ZR1's left for sale...and many many new 2011's (ZR1's)
Not many 2010 ACR's left, they all went pretty quick after the Ring record, and no longer discounted by $20K
as before the Ring- my observations and IMO.

I too have had the pleasurable experience of being put in my place by ViperJon.

I came to the early conclusion if you don't pay top dollar and cash for a several year old Viper in his book you deserve repetitive insults by way of being being downgraded to a bottom feeding dreamer worthy of only a vette. He uses the vette insults more than anyone I have ever seen. Even when they were not insulting him or anyone else on the board.

The irony of those comment is ViperJon used to be "VetteJon" as a former vette owner himself. So take it with a grain of salt. :rolaugh:

I just ignore him. He is obviously a much better person with much more knowledge and money than loley 'ol me.

:notworthy:

Actually i know a dealer who had until a few years ago, 3-4 lamborghinis Countach 25 th anniversary (1988) brand new ( less than 100 miles). You can still find some untitled Ferrari but these are pretty rare....
