why would anyone want a track car with a paint finish like that? car makes no sense to me other than a garage queen. having said that, I don't get the matte finishes at all.

Agreed. And here is some more bad news if SRT really plans to sell this at 170k...Apparently the new Jag XKRS-GT has beaten the Viper TA's and ZR1's record at Willow Springs by more than 1 second. You can get the XKRS-GT for 170k+ from what I have read. I dont think colors are going to get it done SRT. BTW where did it say the Carbon TA is 170k? I cant find that anywhere but here.

I haven't seen a Street of Willow TA time yet, but here's where the XKR-S GT fits in with cars that have been tested...http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/willow_springs_-_streets_of_willow.html. Since the TA is quicker around Laguna Seca than those that beat the XKR-S GT, it seems doubtful that it would beat the TA, unless there's something about "Streets" that favors the Jag set-up over a number of others.

Yes its definitely not as good looking as the viper at all. I do not know if there was an official run made by the TA but on another site quite a few have said that Motortrend had Pobst test the Jag at Willow and it was a bit more than 1 sec faster than both Americans he tested there. Apparently Randy posted it on Facebook from what I read. I dont read the rags and dont follow Randy so I cant be absolutely certain on the above but it appears to be the case from a few that have read it. Im at work so cant access FB to verify. Maybe someone can.

I got to see this the other day at the NY Auto Show press day. I would certainly prefer a different color, but it is still impressive. It is being shown as the SRT Viper GTS Anodized Carbon Special Edition Time Attack. Whoa...I'm out of breath...

Where did you see this published? And what is the Viper TA's record at Willow Springs?

By the way guys, there are several tracks at this location. Willow Springs ("Big Willow") is the main track and is known as the fastest road in the west, it's only 9 corners in 2.5 miles. I turned a 1:33 in my Camaro in my maiden voyage, and I had planned to run my Viper there on another weekend but got rained out. Streets of Willow is only 1.6 miles and has a lot more corners, perhaps 13 or 15 (it's configurable). Needless to say, it's more of a glorified autocross course, most trackers I know have no interest in that track. Not sure which track the XKRS-GT may have beat the TA and ZR1, but Big Willow is the one that counts in my opinion. It's easy to confuse the tracks, sometimes people are comparing apples to oranges.

There is no way it was Big Willow...Probably Streets. It appears that it may be published in the next MT according to the Jag forum I was on. It appears that Randy said it was faster than the Viper TA he ran there according to the forum. It could be hype, more MT goodness toward the Viper etc who knows. I can't access FB to find out myself here at work. As I said above it looks like he posted those times and lap info on FB. If someone doesnt beat me to it when I get home Ill check it out on FB to be sure...

Todd, definately! The streets is more of an autocross track. The original '08 viper launch car did something like 129:5 at Big Willow, I think later stock ACR's have gotten into the high 27's?

Unfortunatley I've never been to Laguna Seca due to the noise restrictions, so it's hard for me to say if the ACR aero helps or hurts and if the TA is really faster on most tracks? I'd love to see a stock ACR go against the TA at Willow (on the same tires). The ACR should be much stronger in the sweepers of 2, 8 and 9, with the TA stronger on the front and back straights with no aero drag.

Loading my car this afternoon, see you Saturday at Buttonwillow. Mike

And if you want to duplicate the look, you can have someone wrap your car as well. 700 hp would speak louder than **** my ride appearance.

I just looked at the XKRS-GT, that thing has some serious aero. It could give the TA a run for it's money, as aero really works at Big Willow. Looking forward to reading about it.

Mike,

That would be a good race, TA Vs. ACR. After slapping the wing on the Camaro, I'm a true believer in aero. It sticks like glue in the corners, but boy you feel the drag on the main straight! As soon as I hit 5th the Camaro just stops accelerating at Willow Springs, LOL. I'm thinking of running an aggressive wing angle at Buttonwillow, looking forward to your thoughts on this.

Awesome, I'm all loaded up too. Heading down to Buttonwillow after lunch, see you soon :D

I guess this Jag is more like an ACR than the TA so I can see it may be a problem for a TA which has much less aero. I guess this makes this a bit of a perspective change for me then on the Jag.

Maybe even more important than aero at Big Willow will be the new gearing and differential design. The car pulls much harder off the corners now at higher speeds. Might make a significant difference.

In the video above, Randy P is driving on the Streets of Willow. In that video, he says nothing about other cars. The stats in the video for the car are 0 to 60 in 4.1 and the quarter in 12.2.

Furthermore, the Gen V Viper results that show on the Streets of Willow stats posted by Bruce in post ten above are from the testing of a regular 2013 Gen V SRT not a TA. Also note the 2008 Vette ZR1 did a 121.9 which is faster than the 122.53 the Jag clocked. We know the TA is faster than the last version, with aero, of the ZR1 so there is no way the Jag would stay with a TA on this track or any other road course for that matter. The facts do not support that view. They do not even suggest that view.

The person who said that didn't quote any source, and is likely mixing it up with the time from the SRT media car that made the rounds and had issues. I'm not quite sure what to make of the XKR-S GT, and while it would seem to be a track-capable Grand Tourer, touring would seem to be its stronger suit according to this comparo...

"Likewise, with a manual 'box, launch control and those stiffer anti-roll bars, you just end up going a lot faster and having a lot more fun while doing so in the Viper. There's no standout feature, the whole car just gels into an addictive entity that you want to keep lapping and lapping until the tyres wear out. And for a track car, that's what you want."

So how many of the fifty carbon cars have been sold? I hate to say this but the color is ugly, difficult to maintain and I would be Really surprised if they sold ten of them. Yuck.

That color is gorgeous.
If the paint process is the same as Mercedes, it is much easier to take care off than regular paint. People should not be concerned about the paint job.

Don't knock the color if you haven't seen it in person. Best color ever put on a car IMO. Unreal in person. Worth the extra money? Maybe not.
