Very interesting question, and one I believe I can answer.

When the VCA edition trucks were being designed (if you recall, they were blue with bone white stripes as well), our friends at Dodge were nice enough to show us (the National Officers) some test "tiles" of the "Old" and "New". They wanted to know if we could tell the diffence, as the chemical formula (sorry, not sure of the differences... something about water base versus ?) had changed (superior technology of the newer product).

The chips werre amazingly similar. The hue was identical... but, there was a minor difference that I detected, one had a bit more metallic flake, or should I say larger flakes, the other, smaller ones.

Which was the new formula?

The one with the smaller flakes.

Again, this was during the VCA Edition SRT-10 truck design. Not sure if the same paint is being utilized on our SRT-10 Vipers.
