Bicky,

Kelly Blue Book and NADA are not real accurate. You are looking at 50,000 to 59,000. Based on the year and milage for the cars you are shopping.

Keep in mind the high sales tax, personal property tax, and insurance.

Hope this helps,

Jerry

Just watch the classifieds !!!
And welcome... I watched and read them daily for 3+ years
as well as do searches of past topics here on the board.
In the end for me, the right car was a new one from Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse.

Good luck!!!
best wishes

Clean GTS's are going under $50k now. Example, 97 GTS with HRE's, exhaust and smooth tubes for $48.5k. Very clean car with 13k on the odometer, formerly owned by VCA member. Just one example. Remember the asking prices and what they are selling for can be quite different.

Just out of curiosity, I checked the classifieds and I couldn't find any '98s going for under 50. I think you could get a high-mileage car that cheap, but I doubt you could find a babied low-mileage car for anything less than 55. It looked to me like the range was around $50K - $60K for a non-ACR, non-heavily modified GTS. For under 50K, I would personally be wary of collision damage, or else cars that have been run really hard.

In 2 years, of course, it could be a different story altogether. I took a look at what I could get out of my car versus what I could trade it for, and I've decided to stop worrying about the value of my used Viper and to just drive it until it falls apart. (That way, I should maximize my fun-per-dollar, which to me is the real investment).
