hey guys,

i have a viper friend who is an older gentelman who has owned his 96 b/w since day one. he is a former vca member, but has got just too old do continue all the meetings and things. he is only selling it b/c his wife is no longer able to get in and out of the car.

it has less than 37k miles and i suggested he sell it here for 45k. he was thinking 48k but i figure you guys would jump at this car at 45k. when he bought it in 96 he had the car undercoated, and an extra layer of clear coat too. he bought the 7/70000 warranty too...but the only thing he has had to replace was the battery in the car!

i have looked the car over and it is in great shape, has been stored in a heated garage all it's life, and the interior is very clean. if anyone is interested pm me and i will email you all of the pics i took...it is a very clean car...if i had the money i would buy it and put it in my garage next to my rt/10.

this guy planned on driving the car quite a bit...so he wanted it protected...i think the dealership sold him on the extra clear though.

i tell you what...for as much driving as this car got it still looks great...very few chips or blemishes...so maybe the extra clear was worth it!

the 'extra layer of clearcoat' is most likely the 'paint sealant' that most dealers try to sell on new cars. its simply a coat of synthetic wax.

I dont think you'll have a problem selling it in the next couple months. a similar B/W with similar miles on it near me in DE (not mine) sold for 45at the beginning of winter. seems to be the going rate for a B/W with a few miles on it in good condition.

Has your friend done his homework? Primo 96's with less than 5K miles can be had for a few thousand more.

I just met a gentleman yesterday who bought his b/w (96) about 3 weeks ago here locally. 22k miles, body/paint excellent, original tires. $35k No history though (quick sale, guy was supposedly running from the IRS). Buyer doesn't know vipers, but is a old 'car guy'.

35K ? ,we can talk about my uncle gave me a great deal on his viper stories all day without pinning down a realistic market value.

auctions are a good way to determine the true market and the B/W at Barret w8Kmiles went for $50K this year.

hey frank,

i hope your car problem here is al srtaghtened out...but to say a car with less than 5k miles will sell for just a few thousand more...bernie has one for 60k right now...i told my buddy we may have to negotiate a little, but someone should sava few thousand bucks and buy this car...it is in great shape and has higher milage so they don't have to worry about every little mile they put on it.

and vipercollector...nothing against you post, but you are hearing that second hand...everyone likes to say they got the deal of the century...and if you think this car is worth 35k...than offer it too me...i'm pretty sure you know what the answer will be though!

and again thanks dom...we as a community need to help each other out and keep the values high...not by posting low ball stories!!

I think you guys misunderstood my post - I thought $35k was a GREAT deal. I told him I had seen similar examples (albeit with a verifiable history) with more mileage than his sell well north of $45k. Don't be so touchy! ;)
