How can a private owner have a non-titled car and be able to sell it?

Also is the pic bad or is that a coat of white dust all over the car? Not that it is bad, just that the car may have been sitting for a very long time. Don't know if that is good or bad with Vipers.

That doesn't look like a pristine car. The old Ford behind it looks like it's better taken car of....

Somethings fishy....

Normally when someone trys to sell something they clean it and make it look nice before they take pictures.

Good question, CarFax says:

"The CARFAX© database currently contains no records for this vehicle. Please check back again soon, as our database is continually updated."

Can't find the VIN.

Someone needs to go knock on the guy's door and ask to see it. My guess, it's LEGIT, but then I have a gambling problem.

Looks like a Chevy next to it. The T-Bird in front of it has dust too.
Is that blue overspray inside the rf wheelwell?
A crowded garage..

I agree with Arly. You would THINK that the owner would give it a once over with a hose and some Z6 before clicking the shutter!

If that car checks out...would that be close to a good price....and a car sitting that long what problems would need to be addressed right off the bat?

Next time that you come to coffee, Ron, talk to the 996TT racer...he's a retired Ophthalomologist...can help you get new glasses...THAT 's a '56 Chevy, not a Ford !!

 :D :headbang: :headbang:

If this car is indeed still on the dealer's books as a new, unsold car...and, if the VIN checked out (run at ANOTHER Dodge dealer), and the Carfax was clean, and one REALLY wated a 96 GTS, it seems that this car would be worth seeing FIRST HAND...and, hiring an experienced Viper Tech to give it the full, professional onceover. Location in NC makes the inspection process easier !!!!

That car was for sale when I was looking for my car, back in DECEMBER. I remember that pic because of the hood like that.

If this is really owned by a private seller, the guy could simply never have registered it. Thereby it does not show on any public record and he never paid sales tax. One problem, he MAY have to register it and pay tax in order to transfer the title, otherwise he is "jumping title" He can't sign OFF the title if it has never been titled. Or the buyer could get stuck in the middle if he forks out the money and leaves with the car and the "open mso" In most states only a dealer caan transfer an open MSO. The seller may not even be aware of any of this yet. My first call would be to the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles to determine how this slae could be transferred from a private owner if the car has never been registered. If the car is really owned by the dealer or a dealer principal all this does not matter. I would imagine the warranty started back in 96 also and is long gone if it really was sold to a private individual, Dodge would have recorded the sale and started the warranty.

If nothing else, anything rubber would be shot...tires, belts, hoses. Also, many seals and gaskets could be questionable.
