AB's wires + retaining clips

AB's wires are too thick for the plastic retaining clips...is it OK to just zip tie them up instead?

They fit in my stock clips, good luck.

I tried pretty hard and the only way they can go in is if I start using pliers to crimp them in there. Even then, I could probably only get 2 wires per clip.

They are tight but you can still fit all 5 into one, if you want to make it a little easier, ream the hole just a bit but not too much were you weaken the retainer

Your clips look different than mine. They are clamped on mine so the plastic goes around the bundle.

So I did some measurements with my caliper:

plastic clip on my 99 GTS: 0.280-0.312" (varied within one clip)
stock wires: 0.250-0.310" (depends on how hard I pinched the wires with my calipers)
AB wires: 0.310-0.340" (ditto)

What I ended up doing was drilling them out a little larger. I broke one so then I started using a file to open them up a little bit. Works OK now.

Hi Don,

Yeah, my stock wire holder does not look like the black one in that picture. On mine, I have to stick a little screwdriver to unhook it and then it folds open so I can put 2 wires on one side and 3 wires on the other side. The black one in the picture looks like you can just push the wires into the holder.

That's what I have, and ab's wires didn't fit in mine either. It wasn't even CLOSE to fitting!

Whew, thanks OKViper, I thought I was alone. Maybe the 99's had a different clip?

The p/n for the clip is 5245 237AB.
