Here's a picture from Sears Point on Saturday. It was my first time at Sears Point but I made full use of the dive planes on my ACR.

I had many (20... more?) come up to me and say that the ACR had 2 large vortices coming from under the car in the wet. "Like an F1 car' was the usual refrain.
The 'rooster tail' was, by all reports, at least 5 times longer than any other can on the track that day.

Sunday was dry and clear - a perfect track day!

BTW - how do I get the picture in the message?

The Cups were good on a wet track but terrible in puddles and streams. They still needed some heat and they still got some temp - even with heavy rain.

Here's some more pics.

Once the track dried I decided to 'melt' an older Z06! Check the background.

Awesome pics - standing water must have been a nice pucker with those cup tires

Yes! Sears Point (Infineon) has no run-off anywhere. Make a mistake and you're testing the airbags - especially in the wet.

There were 3 places per lap that the car would hydroplane for sure so I just planned it as part of my lap. It's the other, less predictable spots that puckered me up.

It was dry yesterday so I had the chance to drive the track both wet and dry.

What a great time.

That first picture is my new background! Awesome! Do you also have a 1280x1024 resolution by any chance? Any pictures from a bigger distance that show the rest of the rooster tail? Keep them rain pics coming please :2tu:

Cool photos, why the x-tra passenger, too much weight next to you.

This is important because the guy is my new best friend. He was an assigned instructor but his 'day job' is as a photographer for everyones favourite magazine. You know the one - it has really, really good articles! Yep, my new best friend!

Good to see someone tracking an ACR. Especially in a monsoon. Can you make any comparisons to other cars you've tracked or other cars at the track regarding lap times? Just trying to get an idea of the relative track performance of the car. Thanks.

This will make me sound like an a$$ but here I go.

Over the years I've had the great privilege of driving almost every cool car on the track. Enzo, F40, Maseratti MC-12, McLaren SLR, Murci, Gallardo, F430, 360, 355, 550, 599.... Porsche... You get the point.

In 2003 I drove an SRT-10 Vert and loved it. At the time I had just sold my NSX so I was looking for a car. I ended up with a 2004 Vert. LOVE IT!

Of all the cars I've driven the Viper was one of the most fun. Not the fastest (but certainly fast) but easily the most fun. Very predictable, awesome torque and if I wadded it up I wouldn't have to kill myself. I could get it serviced locally instead of some guru that takes appointments 4 years in advance. Parts were reasonable, etc. etc.

But the ACR is so much more than my Vert.

The ACR is the fastest laps I've ever done at my local track. I'm under the track record for a street legal car (I hold that record in a Heffner 1000hp Gallardo - see this months issue of Modified Luxury Exotics, I'm the test driver) but have yet to get independant timing. This was before I lowered the car and made the adjustments.

The ACR is awesome. The MC-12 is awesome and the Enzo is cool but I'd save the dollars and get a 430 Scud instead of an Enzo (almost exactly the same speed but both out of my price range).

The ACR has the best motor of any car I've driven. It has great turn in and stick. Maybe the weakest bit is the brakes. It just can't compete with the mid and rear engine cars on the brakes.

One more thing. I like the shifter but it's not nearly as fast as a floppy paddle car. I prefer the stick - it's more fun - but the paddles are way faster.

One more thing. I'd trade my ACR for an F40 in a heartbeat. I really, really like that car.

Great information. Thanks. I've been tracking Z06's for the last 7 years but have an '09 ACR on order. Good to hear you are happy with it!

You may sound like an @$$.... but you're an @$$ I'd like to be. :D

Oh... and as collecting value goes... you'd be an idiot NOT to trade an ACR for an F40. Good news is if you can afford an F40... you can probably afford both. :D
