I would like an exhaust that sounds muscular, like a V-8 rumble, but not obnoxious. Id like a legal cat back system too. Does the Mopar street system sound this way? What do you guys recommend to pick up some nice sound and a couple of ponies? PS I didnt really care for the sound of thw Corsa system that was posted on the forum.. Thats not the sound Im going for.

One thing to remember is that a Viper is V-10, not a V-8! That being said, I don't think you'll find any exhaust system that will make a Viper sound like a V-8. Furthermore, why would you want a Viper to sound like a V-8?

I added the Corsa CatBack system to my SRT-C. First of all, I challenge any V-8 to stop at a light and outrumble the V-10. At idle, there's a lopy percussion that virtually nothing else matches. (Other drivers are often observed to roll up their windows when they are stopped in my vicinity.)

In my neck of the woods, we had a "MetroCruise" this past summer (almost as big in attendance as Woodward, but far less of the ultraexotic street iron (e.g. Saleen, Aston Martin, etc.) I had many chances to "rev-up" against nicely tricked out Camaros, Vettes, GTO's, even Chargers and Cudas. There was no doubt as to who had the most BadAss sounding exhaust system every time! (I base this statement on observation of crowd reaction.) I can only imagine what headers without cats must sound like.

Don't judge the Corsa from the sound of the recording. Get a ride with anyone who has one and I'll bet you'll want one.

Please, just don't Fup your Viper and try to make it sound like a V-8!

Yes, thank you, I am aware that the Viper is a V10. I like the low rumble of a well tuned V-8. Im not trying to make my car sound like somthing its not, I just used the V-8 sound comparison to help identify the type of sound Im trying to get. Most gear heads know the sound Im talking about. I dont want my car to have a ricer "cherry bomb" sound, nor do I want it to sound like a Ferrari (though I do love that sound). Im just looking for a slightly louder, more of an "I mean business" loppey exhaust sound over the stock exhaust. :2tu:
Does anybody use the Mopar Street Exhaust? How does it sound compared to stock?

Thanks,

Any exhaust sounds good on the Viper in my opinion. Corsa is great, but I have heard good about Mopar too. It wont sound ricey. Changing cats helps deepen the tone too. But it will NEVER sound like a V8. I love the sound of my buddies GTS and liked my Z28 with headers sound. But with the V10 and a split exhaust that exits at the sides, well it just sounds different.

I have Corsa with 2 cats removed and the other 2 cats are random tech hi flows. Its deep nice sound, really wakes up when you step on it and has a nice sound at idle. Good luck

I have the corsa with random tech hi flow cats on my 2005. I think the car sounds like a$$. too me, it sounds like cross between the UPS truck and a forklift on steroids, when driving around town.

I have yet to meet anyone that likes the way my car sounds except at WOT.

I would love to tone it down some without putting the crossover back in.....Any ideas?

This is one of the reasons that we developed our exhuast systems to be tuned for different applications. A blown viper requires a different exhaust system than a stock viper. We at AtRo racing Products are a VCA Sponser and can be found under Performance Parts in the Margetplace section of this forum. Our web site is below and we are availble to talk with you on the phone anytime.

I am using the Mopar race exhaust. Everything about it is good except the tip movement hot to cold (Corsa also has that problem). Sound is quite nice, especially at WOT. At WOT women and children take cover (j/k).

Not sure I agree with the statement a blown Viper needs different exhaust. It is all relative and related to flow and tuning. There is little an exhaust system downstream of the header can do for tuning. Therefore it is backpressure related. You cannot get much lower than the Mopar race exhaust for that with 3" straight through.

I have the Corsa with random tech cats on my 04. I think it is great. Nice idle sound. When you get on it is gets loud as he*&. The Corsa is the track system.

The best thing is it eliminated the heat issues. :2tu:

Hey Flash,

You should of got your butt out of bed on Saturday. You could have heard a few Vipers with various exhaust notes. Talk about rumble. One of our SRT guys is running the comp coupe exhaust straight off of the headers. Another of our SRT guys is running Belanger Headers and side pipes.

When I get my SRT out of the shop, I'm going to try and get a set of side exhaust's (no cross overs) made at a local outfit called Zoomers. I'll let you know how this works out.

Not sure what Robbie is talking about with his comment on blown car sound vs. N/A car sound. I've done both and the sound is very similar if not the same.

GR8ASP and I both started with N/A cars and went to the dark side (blown, forged, etc. etc.) and relieving the back pressure is what it's all about.

You'll like the Corsa Track with high flow cats, I'd bet $ on it.

i have the corsa with rt hi flow cats...Don't forget that the dc computer flash will change the sound of the exhaust.. it reduces the amount of pops when u take u're foot of the pedal..

For some reason this set up is definitely noticable but it never bothers me...i have never once said - i wish i had not changed my exhaust or my exhaust gets on my nerves ---- i think it is because there is no drone like i had with a b&b exhaust on my old bmw.

i also have a corsa exhaust on my srt8 jeep gc and am very happy..

i have also put a cai on the bmw , jeep and the viper but the jeep was the only one where the cai seemed to make the engine louder -- it is hard to believe to u hear it -- it might be the metal tube that comes with the dub cai

I have the Mopar exhaust and I love it! I was at Roanoke and was able to compare them from the outside as well as in the drivers seat. In my opinion, I liked the Mopars in comparison to the Corsa and Bellangers. It's all a matter of opinion and personal taste! I was looking for a sound that had a more "throaty" sound to it but not overbearing when cruising on the street. I can tell you that when running WOT, what a difference!
My 2 cents worth.

I did not mention sound as being any different between a blown and non blown viper. I said : "A blown viper requires a different exhaust system than a stock viper." A stock viper with no mods will do quite fine with a free flowing 2-1/2" system where a blown viper will need at least a 3" system. We have installed both sizes and have many happy customers who have come back to me after attending viper meets and have had people say that we build the best sounding exhaust systems they have heard on a viper.

Below are some links from our customers who have posted on the forums and have installed these exhausts on their vipers.

Below is the email that I received from Yellow, Rick today after he raced at Pocono with our products on his Viper.

"Hi Rob
I think there was about 35 vipers,5 corvettes 1 racing Ferrari, and 4 Gut's by Ford.I had a better time than last year and that was hard to believe. This year I moved up to intermediate.I felt like I was the best in the group,I was passing everyone each time we went out.My racing line through the autocross were right on.I also had about 4 people come up to me and ask about my exhaust .All different people ask the same question , your car was the best sounding car on the track. I told them Atro Racing installed it"

"Hi Robbie
I installed the Bellanger headers for the sound not for the extra power and eliminated the cross over pipes and add the high flow cats and Atro racing exhaust.I've never had the powder coating chip peel or come off,it looks like the day I put them on.As for the heat Atro Racing heat wrapped my side pipes which kept my sill cooler .I also did a computer chip upgrade by DC performance which came with a 180 degree thermostat which also keep engine cooler.I did these mods so I didn't have to put the heat shields back on.I haven't had any heat related problems. Personally I like the modification it made to my car.It will make your car sound louder, which I wanted ( It got rid of the UPS truck sound out of my car ).Just for the record, everytime I go to the Viper days at the race track People come up to me and say I have the best sounding car out on the track. And that is what I wanted .I hope this helps.

Stay away from corsa unless you plan on getting deaf. it went in and out of my snake. Now I have Mopar street exhaust and love it. Deep rumble at idle and great WOT. Not deafening at all. Cruising is ok. Think of it as having additional subwoofer:).

Belanger full system...........incredible sound like a Viper should sound like. A tad costly over the other systems.
