Would a M2005 work ok on a drag strip? I know it is for a bike but would I have problems with the tech guys at the strip letting me run my car with a bike helmet? I would not think so but wanted to ask.

TowDawg, which helmet did you buy?

I bought one, but it was too small and they didn't have it in a large, so I ended up with a Vega that's silver, black and white. It looks pretty good with the silver car.

Which one did you end up with?

Hey Robbie, what time are you looking at getting there on Thursday? Which way are you taking to get there?

We will be driving I-85 from Charlotte,321 to Hickory where we will take I-40 East. Should arrive about 4:00 on Thur. I am trying to get a group from the Charlotte area to go. If they can't leave till Fri I may change and leave on Fri morn with them and meet the GA. group in Franklin or At Deals Gap. So far I am the only one going from this area, I hope to get more. Are many others arriving on Thur. Really looking forward to the trip

Probably be a small group on Thurs, plus some of the area local members. We can hang out, have dinner, etc. It'll be a nice relaxing eve before the madness begins :D (not the group, but the logistic nightmare of keeping 40+ Vipers together) :headbang:

Not sure if this will add anytime or not but have you ever driven 181 that goes thru Morganton NC? When you get off of 321 and get on I-40 it is about 10 miles down the road. I think it is Exit 11. If you get off there it is 181 and it's a great curvy road to drive on. If it is nice out it also has a lot of nice views. A lot better than driving on 40 for hours. It will take you thru Spruce Pine which is 19E then down to Elizabethton. Then you get on I-26 then to 81 then onto I-40. Figured I would let you know about it. When I lived in Charlotte I would always take this road. So much fun in a Viper!:headbang:

Thanks for the directions. I will give it a try. Starting to get a few responses from some of our local members. Maybe they will be more than just me.

How'd the practice runs go?

Can't wait to see itinerary. :headbang::headbang::headbang:

I'm embarrased. Times not too great. However, for my first time at a dragstrip I found it entertaining. I can see how people spend years working on their reaction and 60 foot times. My General UHPs (rain tires, too lazy to change for the day, just because I wouldn't mind burning them off the rims, 325s in rear!) felt like someone took a grease gun to them before each run. YeeeeHAH!:crazy2::zzz::hypno::poke::foot::dunce::baby::bolt:

I may have to drive up to join you as you come back to Knoxville!:drive:

We are thinking about doing the devil's triangle in conjunction with the Tail-of-the-Dragon (not same day). Check out: Devils Triangle TN survive this hostile two lane adventure...

Are we planning that for Saturday?? It looks like it may be a little out of way to squeeze that in on Friday (unless T of D is closed). Looks like that would be a great run too.

Well, and then there's: Moonshiner 28 from Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap to Walhalla SC and there's: Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway, Graham Co, NC and there's: Maps & Travel Tools - Blue Ridge Parkway and there's...

East Tennessee and adjoining states are LOADED with great roads! We will firm up this ToD weekend shortly however...:drive::eater::2tu:

We should have the itinerary nailed down within a few days. If you haven't booked your rooms, I suggest doing so. Last week, there were only a few left in our block.

Are we gonna have 50 Vipers this year...
We've gotten a few more commitments for drags on Sunday too :headbang:

OK guys I'm in as well. Not sure if we are going to make a day trip or spend the night. We'll likely leave Friday and stay until Sat. Sure will be nice to see another Viper, not many where I live.

Mills - you are right about 181 from Morganton. I live in between Marion and Morganton and have driven it many times.

Yes - we've about nailed the days' travels down. However, the Devil's Triangle is a NO GO, due to gravel and coal from trucks and potholes, dips, etc. Too much damage potential for our cars. However, the Dragon plans are shaping up. Prepare to slither!:smirk::wow::spin::horse::nitrous:

Just a reminder. If you've got 2-way radio's, bring 'em. :2tu:

Here is the tentative itinerary for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Chip will detail /revise, and I will supply more road # and turn details in a few days. There will be a LOT of driving Friday, and few places where we can truly parade/caravan, though we will have a LOT of places where we stop to 'link back up' as a group.

Generally, that will be doable. However, there are many places where you might have to let a less noble vehicle in front of you. As we get futher from Knoxville, the more likely you will be able to pass/catch back up with the viper in front of you - unless of course that viper is owned by MATT CHAMBERS!!!! (in other words, forget about it!) :lmao:

What time are you meeting at ******* Barrel on Friday?

Anytime after 9am (able to eat too). But, because of the detours, we'll need to leave CB at 11:00 (instead of usual 12:00) to meet GA/NC groups at the resort at Deals Gap at 3:00pm. for the ride back to Pigeon Forge.

Thanks for the info. I'm about 3.5 hours from that CB. So I'm thinking I have 2 options. Leave by 7 am to meet up with you guys before you leave CB. Or, leave at about noon and just meet everyone at Pigeon Forge.

This might depend on how next week goes & when I get out of bed that Friday. I think option 1 is better though.

No. 1 option is the best! Nothing better than riding the mountain roads with 50 vipers!!
