Vegas ALMS Results

Just how many restrictions have they put on the Vipers in ALMS? Something is out of balance when most of the GT cars, like an M3, are finishing higher and turning higher lap times than the Viper GTS cars. Clearly the GTS rules favor the C5-R. The "corporate sponsorship" excuse doesn't hold when you consider the C5-R sponsor of "BirdsongLodge.com/proadj.com" and GT cars without corporate sponsors taking out Messley and Ellis.

Free them up and let them run!

You might as well get used to seeing the Vettes pummel the Vipers in the ALMS this year. Messley and Borcheller in the #45 car are experienced drivers but were nearly 4 seconds slower than the Vettes. Weickardt and Ellis in the #44 car are rookie drivers from Viper Days and were 7 seconds per lap slower than the Vettes.

Both cars are brand new GTS-R Vipers purchased from the estate of the late Bob Hoquim. Bob purchased them brand new from Dodge through Oreca. They were both severely damaged during the Petit Le Mans.

You have to give Weickardt credit for purchasing the cars and racing them without any factory support. Both he and Joe Ellis are passionate Viper owners just like you and I. They are doing this for the love of the Viper. They are not professionals that drive for a living, nor do they have the technical support necessary to even come close to the Vettes.

Congratulations to both Tom W. and Joe E. for having the balls to try this and actually finishing the race. BTW, it was the stinkin' Audi that made the bonehead move to run into Ellis. He should have been black flagged. Glad you came out of it OK Joe. See ya at Mid-Ohio.

I got to give them guys alot of credit for trying to dice it up, keep at it, someoine has to represent the Viper nation, especially all on their own, no Dodge or ZChrysler behind them.

The Vettes know that without the Oreca cars these are "hollow" victories. I commend Joe and Tom for their efforts. The LMP cars should stop thinking the entire track is only for them.
