I didn't want to hijack Gus's "unattended car gets ticket from Na-zi cop" thread. But it reminded me of a law I saw posted on the back of a city bus. To paraphrase, "traffic must yield to city buses re-entering roadway from bus stops." Now, why-the-hell are buses so special, moreso than any other poor slob that wants to get on the road? Let them wait for an opening just like everybody else has to. Some bus drivers whined so they pass a stupid law? Grrrr.

Every bus you see on the road means there are a hundred or so less beaters out there sharing the road with you. I'd rather have the bus with a driver who knows what he is doing, also remember, they have strict schedules to keep and a lot of people relying on them.

Maybe in Lincoln Nebraska, but in Tampa I typically see about 8 people on the bus.

In Raleigh if you see 2 people on a bus (including the driver) it's unusual. Headlines like "City Bus crashes, flips, burns - nothing but ashes remain, one person injured" wouldn't surprise me.

Public transportation is a waste of tax payer money (at least here)

Bus and taxi drivers are the rudest drivers on the road. They're always cutting you off or blocking up traffic, like they are the only one's that belong on the road
I'll never give any of them a break.

And you can add Tow truck drivers to that list as well.

I agree totally. But have you ever been somewhere sitting and signaling to change lanes and have dozens of rude drivers not want to let you in? People just coast on by with their noses turned up. Imagine doing that hour after hour, day after day! I kinda feel sorry for em. hehe. I guess since they're public transportation, the law wanted to group them with things like trains. Can you imagine if the train had to stop at every crossing and wait for people to move so it could go by? hehe.

I have to say that for-hire buses that travel the Interstates are driven by some of the most arrogant, self-centered drivers around. They cruise along at just under 80 in the fast lane, and will not yield to faster traffic. Around here, the Mexican buses that run Monterrey to Dallas on I-35 are the absolute worst.

I agree chuck, let them give us the same permission then that the buses have like standing in bus stops without being hassled..

Adam

Adm, can you re-phrase that for me? I'm easily confused!

Philly's SEPTA buses are a force to be reckoned with on the road- but they are frequently well occupied, therefore, I agree with the "that many less beaters on the road" arguement.

Haha, what he means is, if busses should get the ability to pull out, we should get the ability to park in the bus stop (i.e., bus only) areas.
