Was thinking about picking one of these up....doing a flywheel in a few weeks and figured I should do the clutch too. I'm a little nervous about this site...looks kinda shady. What do you guys think?

I got a set off of Ebay just like it. It was a Direct fit. Worked perfect for me. I was doing some motor work and I figured while I had it out I might as well replace it. My car has 32k and the clutch I pulled out was fine(some wear)but it never slipped. I think the stock one holds up well unless you're pushing over 700hp. I use to shoot nitrous(NX - 200 shot)on my old clutch and it always held up fine.

I put one of these in my SRT-10 as a stop gap when the dealer told me the stock clutches were on national back order. It's a bit soft but very driveable. I paid more than $175 for it. No problems in about 3000 miles. This is the stock clutch as carrot says. Buy it.

1. Anyone know how tough it is to replace the clutch?
2. Do you have to drop the trannie?
3. Do you think the other Levin would be asking stupid questions like these?

Answers I'd like to hear myself. :) I have a new Centerforce, disc and flywheel sitting in the storage area....waiting for the day I need them. :)

As the clutch resides between the engine and the transmission, you do indeed have to separate the two. Some people do it by pulling engine. However, its usually easier to pull the transmission to get to it, as long as that is all you are planning on working on.

I've done a couple of clutch replacements on previous cars (RX-7s and the like), but I could easily bench-press the trannsmission into place, and I didn't worry about lifting the car 18-24 inches into the air on jack stands and ramps. However, I'm going to go out on a limb and bet the T56 would require a transmission jack and a two-post lift at the minimum, so it all depends on your resources.

Otherwise, its pretty straighforward...

The clutch work is pretty straight forward. The t56 is heavy though (140lb). So you better have a friend at hand.

Definitely needed a tranny jack. Even with a lift. The close quarters (very tight) and the weight make it very difficult without a jack.

Not a difficult job, with the exception of bleeding the clutch if you happen to get air in the system.

Make sure to have a service manual around for reference and know exactly what the clutch bleeding procedure says. I've done two, one on a lift and the other on my back(Car jacked up 17" off the ground). If you have a lift, you're set :2tu:

I installed the same one 1 1/2 years ago (purchased from ebay as well). All was okay except the pilot tool for installation was the incorrect one. Minor inconvenience but notable.
