Just wondering. Here are a few questions:

If you do own one which one is it?

What year?

How does it hold up?

Does it compare to the Viper?

How is maintenance?

Anyone use theirs as an everyday driver?

Any pictures?

Nope, why would I want a Ferrari. There a joke for the money.
Viper=450HP,490torque
F355 =375HP,275torque(oh boy)
Makes me want to go out and buy one right away. Plus they don't even look that nice.

I know a guy with a viper and a F360 Modena. Modena isn't as fast as the Viper (at all), but don't catch the F360 in a corner. You'll be toast.

I love the Ferrari's as well. I am a big fan of the F355 GTS and Ferrari 360 Spider but I do not think I would buy one because they are very impratical. I can not stand owning a car that I can only drive occasionally I drive between 15,000 and 20,000 miles a year and I could not imagine having one of my cars just sit there and gather dust. I have had the Viper for only two weeks and it has 1300 miles on it now. I am bad. LOL!!

Tom

Depends on the driver, the viper is simply harder to drive faster, you won't catch some priss cruising rodeo drive to get their nails done in a viper, well maybe execmalibu.

The Viper has trounced the 360 in every handling test thrown at them.

Man, it's a Ferrari. I don't care if the power is low and the price is high, I've never owned one but I'll bet they're terrific cars to have. I'll get one someday, but the Comp Coupe and eventually Ford's GT40 pushes the Ferrari further back...well that and I'm not a millionaire yet.

Yeah, I'd like a 550 Maranello Barchetta in the stable someday - but I'm like Chuck...gotta wait for the stupid money to hit (and I'm not there yet).

With the ex-fiance I drove many Ferrari's. They have.....
F50
GTO
Testarossa 89
328 GTB
and have the Enzo ordered
They need to be driven, if not, those garage queens start giving problems. I drove many, 355, 360, 550, 575M, 456, 57 Testarossa, Dino, mondial, 348, 308 and need to drive an F40 still. The easiest and most fun to drive was the F50.

I have some pics scatterd on the net...go to these for different shots. i need to add pics to all, but I am away from my home PC in the US.

When I had my Porsche TT delivered, the driver who transports exotic cars in Southern California said that he couldn't remember the last time he towed a Porsche.

In contrast he was towing Ferrari's all the time.

I personally think they look really cool. They sound great and drive great.

Opinions are going to vary. If you're someone who takes a little time and lets the car warm up. You have a good feel for how not to stress equipment. You work with the car rather than against it. If the temperature and humidity in your area doesn't vary much. You drive the car regularly. You have a mechanic that understands temperamental pieces of equipment and doesn't just replace equipment at the first sign of trouble, you could have a good experience.

Getting back to the Viper, they're pretty simple, reliable, and not particularly temperamental. Essentially the opposite of the Ferrari.

Personally I think Ferrari's are for people who after they pay cash for them, its pretty hard to tell that there has been much of a change in their financial situation.

Well put.

Antonio, let's hear it. How'd the Ferrari get wrecked?

I HAVE A 2001 RT (SHAPIRE/BLK) AND CURRENTLY HAVE A FERRARI 246GTS AND MANY PORSCHES IN THE GARAGE.

I HAVE OWNED AND RACED MANY FERRARIS OVER THE YEARS..

THE VIPER IS NOTHING LIKE A FERRARI!

A VIPER AND A FERRARI/PORSCHE ARE A TOTALLY OPPOSITE DRIVING EXPERIANCE..

A FERRARI IS SMALL, LITE (365GTB/4 DAYTONA EXCEPTED) AND VERY WELL BALANCED..THEY LOVE TO BE REVVED TO THE REDLINE ON EVERY SHIFT AND ARE INCREDIBLY EASY TO DRIVE ULTRA FAST..

THE VIPER IS BIG, ULTRA FAST AND CAN BE PUSHED TO LIMITS ABOVE EVEN A FERRARI BUT IT IS A LOT OF WORK...MY RT/1 WHEN PUSHED HARD STARTS TO RUN ON THE HOT SIDE AND THE BRAKES START TO FADE! THEY TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL!

THE FERRARI IS VERY WEIRD AND QUIRKY BUT THEY ARE NOT DELICATE.. ONCE YOU UNDERSTAND HOW TO DRIVE A FERRARI YOU CAN BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THEM AND THEY LOVE IT!!

ENZO USED TO SAY "A FERRARI NO GOT NO RODIO BECAUSE YOU LISTEN TO THE MUSIC OF THE ENGINE"

AS FAR AS A DAILY DRIVER I DONT THINK EITHER IS PRACTICAL..

Chuck......her dad was driving doing about 80 mph coming out of the "Gran Sasso" tunnel This tunnel is west of Rome and divides Italy in east and west. This tunnel is known for the different weather conditions of opposite ends.
The tires needed to be replaced because the are too worn. They came out in a long left sweeping turn when the car hydroplaned. The front hit first causing the car to spin and hit the rear left and then rear right. As you can see the damages are expensive. Thank God that no one was injured at all. Thankfully the bill so far in parts alone is only about $125K and if the suspension parts were to have been banged up, that would have been another pretty penny.
The car is being painted since it needs a few coats and a bit of time for the paint to be absorbed by the CF. I will have pics when I get them, maybe this week.

These cars break down if people treat them like garage queens, sinple as that. If you drive them, then they last. The same with any other car, if they sit, they break.

Having recently returned from an exclusive visit to the Ferrari plant in Modena, I am in love once again. Watching those cars being built, I imagine, would be like watching da Vinci bring to life the portrait of La Gioconda.

From the leather wrapped tools to protect each fastener, to the tireless precision of each hand assembly operation. They even have a car cover inspection area (factory sewn), to ensure it's perfection. Any Ferrari can be custom ordered in any color/modification you want... as long as you have the $$, and Ferrari Marketing approves it. The better a customer of Ferrari you are, the better your chances of a custom car/color.

Upon birth, each car is taken on Ferrari's F1 type practice track next to the assembly facility and Ferrari test drivers must approve it prior to it's being released. Their job is to ensure each car is as identical in performance as possible, each engine custom tuned on the dyno to be precise in it's power.

Imagine ordering your custom Ferrari, (waiting 18 months, to which Ferrari marketing said that is a desired time to allow for full appreciation of the car), then flying to Modena to watch your car run down the final lines. You get to watch a Ferrari test driver excerise your car on the F1 track. Ferrari will then arrange a romantic route for you to drive down the Malfy coast to arrive at your break in miles. The first service will then be preformed at the factory, and your car shipped to you back home.

The Viper can out run a Ferrari Modena hands down. But the Ferrari is an entirely different experience. There are faster cars, but there is only one that summizes the epitomy of the ultimate sportscar experience - the Ferrari.

I had chills the entire time we were there, can't explain it, I was in awe. Somehow the thought of owning a Viper seemed insignificant at that time, ashamed to say, but true. The entire town of Modena was Ferrari. It was a lifestyle. One that I long to enjoy. Someday...

Reminds me of the Harley saying: "You can get there in a hurry, or you can get there on a Harley".

140K+ miles on my 74 dino that I have owned for 16 years. I too went to Modena last year for the opening of Ferrari World! the day befor the Italian F1 race.
How did I know where the factory was? As I was driving down this industrial/farm typ 2 lane I noticed a 100 or so people hanging from a chain link fence. I pulled my Alfa 147 over to the edge of the road & my wife was asking me why, a few seconds later you heard the scream of the F1 cars & we knew we were there. We met Micheal & Rubens later that day by accident. It is truly mecca, also ther is masarati, Lambo & Zonda as well as many other smaller shops nearby. Must be the water!

Actually, quite the opposite. You can and should drive the 355 and 360 daily. Both are very easy to drive and can be used daily. When they sit is when all the problems start to occur.

ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO I WAS WITH A LARGE GROUP OF PORSCHE OWNERS AT AN F-1 RACE..I WAS TALKING TO A STRANGER ABOUT CARS AND HE ASKED "WHAT DO ALL PORSCHE OWNERS HAVE IN COMMON..I SAID I DIDNT KNOW...HE SAID THAT THEY ALL WANT A FERRARI!!

I SAID..YEAH I CAN RELATE!!

4 MONTHS LATER I BOUGHT MY FIRST FERRARI A 246 GTS(WHICH I STILL OWN) THEN I BOUGHT A 365BTB/4 DAYDONA ( I CALL IT THE ROCKET POWERED SCHOOL BUS)

I STILL OWN AND LOVE PORSCHES,COBRAS,JAGS,MERCEDES.THE VIPER..ETC

BUT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING SWEETER THAN THE SOUND OF A V-12 FERRARI SCREAMING DOWN THE ROAD AT 7,000RPM!!!

YOU HAVE TO EXPERIANCE DRIVING ONE TO UNDERSTAND...

FERRIS BUELER SAID IT BEST!! "IF YOU HAVE THE MEANS YOU REALLY SHOULD PICK ONE UP"

Why the f* did you break up with her ? :)

Big Ferrari fan over here. Like the TR, F40 and Enzo the most.

My favorite car is the Lambo Diablo though. Roadster. Black of course. One day...

I love Ferrari's as much as the next guy. Who doesn't? They are stunning in many ways. King of exotics, IMHO. Although, BEFORE you decide to pick up a new/used Ferrari, do your research. Ask the dealership/mechanics/owners about the 'routine' maintenance schedule - and cost. Mind you, these are the things that get done when NOTHING is broken. Don't let anyone kid you.... It's jaw dropping. If memory serves, one exotic dealer was telling me the engine gets pulled at 15,000K on a (348/355), and the timing chain an other odds & ends get replaced. All at a reasonable cost of $5,000. He was talking like this was good! Not to mention the unforeseen problems that may arise. I guess if your rich, why not. Otherwise, stay away.....

Thats the problem with used ferraries, they are so cheap now that you can buy 308 & 400 for under 20k & they may actually be ok, The issue is sevice, you may be able to afford the price of admission but count on 4k$ for a routine service on 6 & 8 Cyl cars & more for v12. A 308 rebuild cost 15K$! that said the cars are much more reliable than any other exotic. The more miles the better the car.

It's definately expensive for the routine services on exotic cars. I know someone with a 2001 Diablo that the 15,000km service costs about $9,000. But hey, if you can afford to own a $290,000 car.....

Had a 308GSTi, wanted a faster car. I got beat by a 69 GTO (Pontiac, not Ferrari) and decided to get a Viper. Very correct to say they are different. NO low end torque, but the sound at 8000 rpm is THE most intense and thrilling sound ever made by man. Yes, it was not the quickest, but at the time I didn't care. As far a mechanical nightmare? No way, I put 15k miles on it and only replaced a rotor button, due to age. I agree that they must be driven, hard! The thing even ran better on regular unleaded! I love my Viper, just wish I still had both. The resale value stayed constant when I had it and has now appreciated. I wish I could say that about the GTS.
