Mainly for autocross, street driving with a track day here and there.

I know Kumhos (mine are on there way) is probably the biggest way but any others?

Any cheap ways? Perhaps suspension setup etc?

Thanks,
Dan

I'm sure there will be a lot more experienced drivers than me answer this question. I was having lunch one day and Tommy Archer was there and I had a rare opportunity to speak with him personally. I ask the exact question you're asking. Mind you my question was directed more toward road course. His reply was to get better shocks such as Motons.

I feel that plus many hours of seat time will at least help.

Good luck and keep it on the track.

When you get the coilovers, you can corner weight the car and balance left and right front braking. Eliminate that right front lock up.

If you have time, access to a lathe, and are frugal like me, you can make your own coilovers from the OEM Konis.

After that, add some rear brakes. A little self-serving, I know, but I started with exactly the same driving menu as you; AX, daily driver, and occasional track time. Rear brakes (having some that work) make you feel as comfortable and confident slowing down as the tires do for cornering and the engine does for get up and go. I went through too many flat spotted tires...

Gen I's typically do not have the right-front lockup problem of the Gen II's (which is probably caused by the approx 70-100lbs less on the front right corner of most Gen IIs).

Get the car aligned to 95 specs (assuming your car is older than that). That helped my car considerably.
I also added Eibachs, which lower the car, and I feel helped handling.

95 specs? Are you talking about the tires aligned or more?

How are the '95 specs different from earlier years? The Wizard was kind enough to provide me with the '95 specs, and they look identical to what's listed in my '94 manual..
