Ok heres the deal, this 1997 viper GTS (Red) runs and drives great, damaged body panels are as follows.

Front fascia - gone, removed from the car
Left exhaust cover - minor damage on bottom side, slight visible damage in the very back near the rear tire.
Right exhaust cover - scraped and pushed in on the back near the back tire.
Right door - scraped, all paint damage.
Right door mirror - Glass shattered, mirror cover has a crack.
Headlights

I did this over the weekend when I fish tailed, hit a metal post with a reflector coming down a onramp, the car crossed grass and went onto the freeway. The car runs and drives great.

My insurance was not current, I was and still do think that it should be, but that is a different matter. I also found out that my contract will be ending at the end of the month where I work so I cannot afford to keep the car and fix it out of pocket even though I would love to just fix it up and keep driving it.

Anyone who is intrested in more details about buying this car, shoot me a PM. I will try and get some pictures tonight.

PS : No flames welcome here, only questions or comments about the car or information related to fixing the car.

Re: Anyone intrested in a salvage / wrecked viper?

The car is located in Boise, Idaho. I don't know about driving across country but the car is def able to make it on a road trip.

I think you need to indicate a ball park price that you would be looking for. Sorry you had your troubles with the insurance co.

Hmm, might make someone a good race car. Sell off the Gen I hood and get one of those nice louvered jobs seen on this site (If you are not going to be original, go extreme!) How's the frame? You might want to pitch it as a rebuider with a little more detail / assurance about the condition of the rest of the car.

No flame intended but don't you think that the price you are asking is a very important part of this?

Anyone's interest in a rebuildable 97 Viper is going to be based on the cost.

Far as I know this has not been wrecked before, the hood is not original and was repainted by a noname shop in town before I got the car.

I want to see 26k for the car.

The car has had the hood replaced with a gen1 hood.
That means that the car has been hit before.
People don't slap on a gen1 hood for no reason.

The fact that it is a gen1 hood means that it wasn't a first class repair. Where else did they cut corners?

And where did the missing fascia go?

how bad is the bumper? The gen 1 hood replacement makes this car seem that something big happened before.

I have the fascia, it was badly damaged so I removed it from the car to make it drivable.

And why all the secrets?

People asked the title status now.
What was the title status after the first wreck?
How many miles on the car?
How bad was the first wreck?

If your insurance company didn't pay you for the car then they couldn't have made it a salvage car even if that was what the wreck would normally have done.

I'll have to say, at this point there are quite a few questions.

He is either hiding something, or just doesn't know " what to say ". BY which I mean maybe he bought the car without realizing a second wreck. Either way, not even me, the cheap bastard that I am, would even consider buying this " money pit ".
