Hi,
Can anyone tell me if these are the correct smooth tubes that come with an acr. They are pretty ugly looking and I was thinking of changing them.
Thanks
Gary

That's what I thought. Can I use the type roe sells or will they not support the filters? I saw someshere nice tubes that were reinforced in the middle. Any suggestions?
Thanks

SYNFULL: No offence, but get those hookey(sp?) things off of your car ASAP. Call

John at Parts Rack
Sean at Roe's
Chuck at Tator's
Snakeoyl

Just do something quick. (I'm not sure what part numbers you need, but any of the above guys should know what your looking for.)

Can someone with an acr please do me a favor and take a picture of what the tubes, and filter are supposed to look like. Do you have wires and tubes attached to your smooth tubes?
Thanks

SYNFULL, do you have the airbox? I see who ever has modded that air intake system has deleted the air box. You will need that in order to go back to factory.

No, there are no hoses or wires attached to the ACR tubes.

The factory ACR tubes are black and have a slight bend in them to point down from the trottle bodies to the air box.

The factory ACR tubes also have a white line on one end that lines up with a line on the side of the airbox. Keeps the bend in the perfect angle.

This car never had an airbox (I don't think) as it is an acr. Where would I attach these tubes if I replace the smooth tubes with the factry tubes? That's why I asked if anyone can send me a pic of an acr.

Boy I am really confused her. I wish I could just look at an acr and see what you guys are talking about. I didn't know about an airbox at all. Anyhow what should I do. I don't want to necesserily go back to stock unless that is the best for power.
Thanks

Gary, I took another look at your pic. Someone removed your airbox to go with the cone filters. It is not because it is an ACR. The ACR's have the same airboxes as everyone, they just had smooth tubes and K/N filters.

There is no reason for you to replace those tubes unless you go to a stock airbox. I don't think that would be the best for power but that's up for grabs. I never liked the cone setup myself.

Now I am starting to see the light
When I read smooth tubes and k&n filters I thought this (my car) was correct. I didn't realize acr's had an airbox with k&n's inside, and smooth tubes going to the airbox.
So is this setup sucking in hot air? How about those chrome tubes I have seen that angle the cone filters lower- is that any better? Or- the snakeoyl carbon fiber setup- althought that is $$$
Thanks!

The key is the air box. You have a Naca duct on your hood which supplys the air box with fresh cool air.
Forget about cone filters period.
Chrome tubes, gold tubes, rubber doesn't matter. The key is the air box!

PartsRack.com has a nice set with chrome tubes that I bought and later changed out for aluminum tubes. He has the black tubes as well.

If I did it again, I'd use the Black tubes and put that black mesh cover over them. The SRT/10's has a hose with the mesh the right size to fit over an intake hose. Actually I think I will change them out. Just because I have to much time and money on may hands. I just think it would be a great stock look. But what do I know :)

The oversize chrome tubes also slow the velocity of the air rushing towards your TBs as the tubes expand to 3".

Less power, more heat.
