Just to recap, shortly after I bought my first viper close (the next day in fact) the car started to develop a rod knock, this happened close to a year and a half ago. But luck for me when I took the car in I discovered it was still covered under dodges warrantee. The motor was pulled out and sent to Arrow for a rebuilt. Well I got a wild hair the other day and contacted Todd at Arrow to get the build sheet and see what had happened to the motor. To my surprise he also included the dyno number. I’m not sure what a stock motor is suppose to put out but these numbers look pretty good tell me what you think.

Todd's email to me

Hello Michael,

I have your packet on my desk and the failure report show major internal damage from the number 10 rod bearing spinning, the wear included a high speed wear pattern on the camshaft and blow by past the second ring of the piston. Your engine made 478.6 Horse power @ 5300 RPM and 536.2 ft, lbs of Torque @ 4400 RPM.

Todd

I'm hoping to get anywhere between 480-500rwhp this year with the mods I'm doing. I currently have the K&N FIPK(smooth tubes, filters, air box) high flow cats, corsa exhaust, 708 cam and will be getting new headers, Rockers, Alum Flywheel, SCT Tuner and some other things. So I would imagine without Rockers and Headers you maybe somewhere in the range between 450-465 to the wheels.

Thats sounds about right. My next mod will be Rockers and gears. I wish i had that 708 cam! Arrow couldn’t install it due to warrantee issues

In July I am doing a lot of mods, Belangers, high flows, bassani muffler and chromoly flywheel. I hope for 450+rwhp! I can't get it tuned, won't have the extra $$$ for that. :(

How is the Chromoly flywheel? I was planning on getting the Aluminum Lightweight Flywheel from Fidanza... I've never looked into the Bassani Muffler though.. For me I'm getting American Racing Headers with their High-Flow cats or possibly looking into the Roe High-Flow cats from what people have been saying.

I read that the chromoly is not as light as the Fidanza but more stronger. Honestly I had a Fidanza in my 99 TransAm and it bucked a lot at low speeds also lose RPM quicker between shifts. I learned how to drive stick with that and I stalled a ton. :p

Well, I got a great deal on Belanger headers and Borla catback. I plan on not using the exhisting mufflers and putting on some Bassani mufflers. Maybe they will sound okay? :dunno:

10 years ago I shipped my 2000 RT to Arrow to be rebuilt because of the cylinder sleeve issue. I re-broke the motor in and took it to the dyno shop. With Balenger headers, 3" catbacks, Randomtech 3" in/out cats, 3.55 gears and a lightweight flywheel I put down 432.7 RWHP and 473.4 RWTQ. So you have some reference.

my 2003 srt10 is a arrow rebuild and with just a kn intake and arrow rockers she put down 457 rwhp SAE and 470 rwhp standard. Thought that was pretty decent as well

You didn't specify what exhaust you were running. All you said was "high flow." If you are running big tube headers with the cat-back, add another 15 or so. Creampuff motors normally don't make as much power as the '96-'99s. An early GTS with a GOOD tune that doesn't leakdown can pick up in the neighborhood of 40+rwph with your listed mods.

I did before and after dynos when I installed my exhaust on my 2000 creampuff. Balanger tri-y headers, Randomtech 3" in/out cats and 3" catbacks gave me 25 RWHP and 40 RWTQ on the same dyno.
