What you need to do tony, is move up to Cumberland. Besides mendon Rd. you have the whole town to cruise alone.

You're very lucky it could have had a much different ending...About 20 yrs ago a buddy of mine got out of his car to approach a person that kept riding his *** and flashing his high beams at him and he wound up dead...The guy backed up and then hit him...He died on the scene at 20 yrs. old...

I would never get out of my car and approach another driver...There are just too many nut cases out there...

I can't speak for all the details Tony, but I know when it comes to my child that my instincts for protection take over completely. I think it is right thing to do to just let it happen.

Stop second guessing yourself. You will never be able to predict what would have happened if you had done something different. Bottom line is your son, you, and your Viper all came through unscathed and that is all that matters. You obviously handled it very well.

I have had a few experiences with A** Holes on the road too when I am driving my Viper. People veering over into my lane and pretending to side swipe me, people veering over into my lane while coming at me head-on a few times, people cutting me off on purpose within a foot of my bumper. The insanity of it all. I am tempted to take advantage of Michigan's new concealed weapons law and start packing some heat.

Hey Tony,
Being an Ex-Rhode Islander (Cumberland), I can sympathize with your experience, but these kooks are everywhere now. You are lucky that it ended the way it did, and one of the first things I would suggest if you don't have one yet, is to carry a cell phone with you at all times, just for situations like this one. Glad the police got the guy and charged him. Watch out for the left hand turns on a green light while you are starting to go straight through in Little Rhody, that's another trait from both RI and Mass, with apologies to Mark O. You've probably experienced that one by now, having been in RI for a fair amount of time.

I was driving back to the hospital and some kid in a crotch rocket wanted to race me so bad it was pathetic. I finally turned off and he did a wheely and went on the road right between an outpatient clinic and the county hospital at about 100 or so. The average age of the patients at that clinic are about 80 or so. Its of course right down the road from the eye clinic that does eye evaluations. A Truck pulled out in front of him. He missed the truck, but I realized that if he hit it he was sort of pointed right at the local ER. He would of landed about 100 yards from the entrance.

The moral of the story in both of these cases is that there is a time and place for "testing" your car out on the road. I feel you have to be on the road with someone you trust who will know when to back down when the situation gets out of hand.

I try to never push the car when I have kids in the car.

My wife would kill me if I survived the accident.

People really just kinda **** in general. I have to play low key with my cars so I don't become a target. I love my Viper a lot but don't like the attention it gets on the street. I guess that is why I have put 800 miles on it in a year. People around here are pretty mild but you never know who you will find on the street.

Be careful out there.

Tony,

That's really scary. I'm sorry your son had to go through that, and I'm sure it had an effect on him. Just be thankful, because it could've been way worse. I agree with all the above posts about motivation, etc.

Don't let this one bad experience keep you off the road. Don't let the bad apples out there control your life!

P.S., I'm glad I live in L.A. where weird s*** like that never happens!

Just a quick reply, As you and most people on this board know. There is a an enigmatic phenomenon that overwhelms the roads. Usually it's with younger kids, and trust me RI and thier Sopranos wannabe attitudes doesn't help. Whenever you have an exotic car, it has a magical "kick me sign" that the owners and most rational people can't see. I've parked my car and come back just see someone spit on the windshield, I've had my share of tailgaters, busting B*LLS. I've had my share of gremlin quality vehicles (stock) wanting drag. Anyway, being noticeable on the roads has it's advantages, but it has the frustrating moments too.

anyway, i'd have stuck my HMS exhaust pipe up his F****** A**
