Was fortunate enough to buy my first Viper a Gen 3 Coupe at 32 after I sold my engineering business. Sold that car last year and was again fortune enough to be able to trade another car we had for a Gen 1.5 at the ripe old age of 39. Will have this one for awhile as it is all for family now, unless we win the Powerball tonight.

As long as someone is respectful and genuinely enthusiastic without fanciful bragging or outrageous stories or driving like an idiot, the question of age just NEVER comes up and is not the issue. Out here in the Rockies, we have a Handful of people in there 20s, a few more in their 30s, a lot in their 40s, even more in their 50s, about the same in their 60s and we all bow to the handful in their 70s. Not sure of any in the 80s but those in the 70s have some cool cool cars. One of our ladies has 2 GT2s that she drives all over the US and she was a part of the original group that went to LeMans for that historic win. Then again some of our 20s who were deployed in the wars, came back any put their life in a new GEN 4 Viper. Great for them and very happy for them. They absolutely deserve it.

With true car guys and gals, age is interesting but in the end really means nothing more than a number.

I was 32 (now almost 36) when I bought my SRT-10. But I have the Viper virus since I saw the first drawings back in 1989. Ever since a huge fan!!!! Now looking for a good RT/10 to expand the collection.

I've wanted one since I was a kid and used to watch the Viper TV show. My parents were nice enough to take me to the CAAP and do the tour when I was 15 while we visited their friend's ranch in northern Michigan. I've been "bitten" since the mid 90s and never would have imagined I'd be fortunate enough to own a Viper. I actually still remember the first time I got to drive a Viper (black '00 GTS) at 19, about a week into my first valet job during college. Who would have known 7 years later, I'd be driving my own Viper! I'm excited to finally have my car back and meet some other Viper owners.

A viper's been my dream car since I was about 6 and I had a model one. ( and played test drive and need for speed!) About 19 years of selling my soul later and it's finally happening... Can't wait! Couldn't age more ,though. Age is but a number..

I completely understand. My wife says I act like a 13 year old or maybe a 2 year old depending on the day. What does she know? It's my toy and I don't want to share. But if she's right about the 2 year old part, I may be the youngest. Got to go, time for my nap and some Geritol.

Got mine when I was in my late 40s :) But I do have the mental age of Teenager :D

I was out on a cruse with friends when a Ferrari California pulled up by the side of me, he rev-ed his engine and had his drivers window down, I responded giving him the full 128db decatted exhaust note from the Viper. He looked at me smiling and stated "CHILD" :D

I was 36 when I got my first Viper. Now at 51, I am on my 5'th Viper. Can't immagine life without one. There was a year or so when I was between Vipers and I couldn't get another soon enough.

I bought my srt10 viper at 24. About to be 25.

I had a guy on the street that was probably 40-50 with kids in his truck say "must be daddy's car" i just looked over and laughed. I'm sure he was just jealous.

Anyone have a funny or good comeback for that?

at 29(last summer) i bought mine, $4000 clean title missing half the front end no engine, big project, people give me crap all the time for having it, it dosnt even run, just people that hear that i have it. I ve worked at Don Scharf Automotive, a Viper Salvage Yard for 7-8 years so i am putting it together as i go, its just funny the attitude that some people give though, when they are younger and driving new lifted diesel trucks, and modded Mitsu Evo's etc, its a 1999 GTS you can get the for $30k if not picky, whats a 2012 Duramax silverado cost haha?

I had a Corvette my grandmother bought me when I was 16. I bought my own 2004 Viper when I was 19/20. I would get the "daddys car" comment all the time. My response in the Viper was "This ones mine, but my dads car cost more than your house"

It can be sad to see that the age question immediately turns to a ******* match in which the younger you were when you got the car is in someway related to how successful one is perceived or if you are older you think that the younger kid had the silver spoon.

In my "short" experience I get the younger/naive people thinking my parents are rich or its my dad's car. Mature people just admire the car and when I tell than I built mine from the frame up they are amazed, and that is something I am proud of. Because at the end of the day I am "grease monkey" with a lot of business exposure and I am not afraid to tell people that.

Age when I bought it? 23 age now 26

Work hard, play hard...no matter what the age is.

I always say, I may have to grow older, but I never have to grow up! For the record, I am 55, but I don't drive that slow:D I have had my Viper for a month now and have to thank my parents for it. They both recently passed away and I used some of my inheritance for it. I have always loved my toys!

I was 11 years old when I got my 1st Viper.

I had to give it away because I hated every time I had to clean out the cage. And feeding it live mice was too expensive.... but fun

Age doesn't translate to experience behind the wheel, and I don't think the general driving experience one has on a day to day basis, over time, is in anyway equal to formal training, racing school, or hours spent behind the wheel of a car as accident prone as the Viper. That being said, no matter how old or young you are, you can't fix stupid.

Most people on this board who haven't actually met me would never guess how old I am correctly... let alone how old I was when I got into this game. There is nothing wrong with being young and getting into these types of cars. That is of course provided you are mature enough to handle the responsibility of owning such a car, and are willing to respect the culture of what came before you without trying to talk it down or dismantle it, transforming a legacy into a laughing stock.

Above all else, be safe!

I have owned 3 vipers. "tried" the gen 1 out when I was 26. Bought a gen 3 when I was 28 and now at 30 I have a gen 3 with a Paxton.

I do look silly young but never had anyone ask me if it was daddy's car. I could care less what other people try to think. I know I worked hard to buy my own car and I am the only person who's opinion I really care about regarding my own finances.

Looking back, would I do it again? HELL YES. Between the 2nd gen 3 and the current one, all my friends talked me into a c6 z06. It was a great car, but just not for me.. To me the viper will be the #1 iconic American sports car.

2nd viper at 29. I don't think the age thing really matters to most people. Used vipers are not bad considering a new 1/2 ton truck can set you back as much as a nice used viper. I just tell people that make odd comments that I spent a lot of time in the desert away from my family and they usually are cool after that. I hope to get into a gen v in a few years.

A Viper is the LAST Car I Would Buy someone I Loved in their 20's! jmo!

Agreed. I would not be here if I had a Viper 10 years ago I am sure. I was much more reckless then with other cars than I am in this car. However as soon as I bought my first Viper I immediately respected it.

However I did have a BBC Stingray my senior year of HS.. :rolaugh::drive:
