I just had to replace mine. I went with the Sears Advanced Gold AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery. If I recall it is a group 78 battery. You have to be certain it does not have top post (cannot be a "universal/double post" either). The posts will hit the chassis and short. It can only have front mounted bolts.

I went with AGM because it is a dry cell. It will take more vibration. Considering the position the battery is in, it takes a great deal of abuse even with common driving. The battery also has a full swap out warranty for 3 years and then pro rated. Not bad. Price was OK as I got it on special for $149.

Die Hard Platinum from Sears all the way!!! I replaced the battery in my Gen IV a couple months ago and it has been great and held a charge all winter long without turning on. Can't say that for my old battery.....

Just for general info...Gen I (late 93 thru 96 R/T 10) & II (96 thru 02) Vipers take a group 78 battery...and Gen III & IV Vipers take a group 34.

I have NOT found a Sears DieHard Platinum in a group 78 size.

Regardless of the battery you go with, be sure to keep it on a float charger/maintainer when parked. That is key to longevity.

I purchased an Advance Auto Parts AutoCraft Gold battery (whatever their best house brand is) mainly because I had a $20 coupon off $100. Fits like a glove; perfect size. Purchased this the night before VOI12 (I'm lucky the car broke down here and not on the road!). Many many stops and starts while at VOI and always fired right up. Have it on a tender now and is crisp every time.

I just went to Sears and bought the Die Hard Platinum Battery because of this discussion...The battery I had was still good but I figured what the heck....Now its new......That battery cost $221.49. They are Proud of that one, huh? They said it is filled with Jell instead of liquid acid,,,,,It has a 48 month full replacement warranty..........52 month prorated warranty........and 100 month total warranty.....soooooooo whoever buys this TT Viper when I sell it they wont have to worry about the battery for quite a while, ha item # 22850090 are we havin fun yet???
