ok I've read all of the posts i think? what was the d/a, track temp, air temp do you have any of the weather conditions on hand understandable if you don't. great run as well.

I don't know any of that DA stuff, but it was about 50 degrees and sunny with a mild head wind.

Anyone suspicious as to why none of these "professional drivers" in the rags can get Gen 4's to run less than 11.4-ish when we got guys in here running sub 11.2 and beating ZR1 times? Does anyone smell a rotten (payola) egg here?

I smell a rotten egg and a whole lotta GM advertising dollars at work.

It all depends on the drivers .I know some mag test drivers that are average at best while others are fantastic esp considering that they often have absolutely no seat time in a car before the run it down the strip.

There are several reasons besides seat time. They don't prep the car playing with tire psi, they don't ice the manifold, use VHT, use minimal fluid levels, the track/conditions are not ideal, etc.

I do have a question regarding not powershifting. Can you elaborate? The times you have achieved in the Z-06 required powershifting, I can't imagine it would be much different with the Viper. In other words, you are getting tire spin into 2nd and perhaps 3rd, correct?

I bought Jamie's Vert that did that 10.922. I believe he pulled something around 10.76 or so in the ZR1...it's posted on the Vette boards.

LOL - Bone stock Vipers will put any Vette in its place...good joke...real good one...

Having both in the stable currently, I have to respectfully disagree of course...:)

By the way BM1 - Jamie JUST RECENTLY beat the Viper record he set (World record) with his BONE STOCK ZR1, BY A WIDE MARGIN too...like by close to 1/4 second or so in the quarter and prior to that, he pulled a 10.98 in his 06 Z06 again - bone stock with *** Run scraps...and the Z is 95 HP less than the Gen IV Viper...

Would have been exactly like you, but sold my Busa's for ZX14's...LOL

Now, oddly enough, Jamie also has a ZX14/Vette and an ACR...LMAO...how funny is that?

BTW BM1 - If Jamie ran a 10.79 on a BONE STOCK 09 ZR1, are you saying the there are members here who have beaten that with a BONE STOCK VIPER???? Who, what where???? Please show me that link or some slips!

you can see where the power is made. nothing great at the bottom but the upper end gets really strong. I get 1.66 60' time in my 04 and had it at 1.48 once but screwed up and hit her rev limiter in third. I run MT drag radials with 12 lbs mostly stock and my best time is 11.8. I think east coast and west coasts strips may be a bit different. This track at Infineion raise 12" in the 1/4 mile. I really noticed more power of late with the nights being much cooler. Those are great times you made. If I ever get below 11.5 the rules change and I would need to have more safety equitpment on me and the car to continue. I think the NHRA rules are the same no matter what track so how did you pull that off? I want to go there....

The need never seems to cease. Neither do the toys. I trade car parts for Prada just to keep the peace. Surprisingly it works.

Canyon707,

Funny how the designer clothes vs car parts thing is working out...my wife likes to "trade" compressed carbon for car parts:)

It's not looking too good for tomorrow night at Infineon for me, I have clients flying in from Australia and need to pick them up at the airport Wednesday night. Do you know if we are forecasted for any rain??

I'm bummed, I was hoping to improve my 60' times and make the last meet of the year.

Cheers,
George

George it may be wet tomorrow. How was Vegas??? Hope you did well. There is also a bracket race day on the 29th of Nov a Saturday so that could be fun 40 to enter and money to win( right) I think I would be down for that. Todd is going forward with his mods so not sure if he will be ready for it. I think it will be good to run it should be cool outside. Clothes, shoes, purses, speed parts, it's all good. it all fits in a Viper.

This is a misstatement right? You say he beat the Viper record by close to a 1/4 second????
Thats 2.5 tenths...

10.93 for the Viper VS 10.79 for the Zr1 is the ZR1 only ahead by 1.4 tenths...

As well the 10.99 for the Z06 vs the 10.93 for the Viper has the Viper ahead by only 600ths or .6

The differance is that I beleave the Zr1 can trapp 130 mph all day with average drivers..Making it a bonified 10.8 car in my eyes..

The Viper can trapp 129 mph all day with average drivers makeing it a bonified 10.9 car in my eyes...

The Z06 with it's 25,000 cars made has only had 2 people hit 127 mph or better and is really a 126 mph car all day with an average driver...Makeing it a bonified 11.1 car in my eyes...

so the 1/4 second advantage stuff is pretty rediculous...The Vipers have touched 130-131 mph and the ZR1's have touched 131-132 mph...With the differance bbeing the 1.4 tenth advantage for the ZR1...They are much closer than your post made seem...

Even though the ZR1 is a faster car, it has to use forced induction to outrun the Viper. 10.9 @130 is fantastic for an NA car. Just imagine what the Viper could do with the Vettes gearing.

The difference is (Jamie may want to add to this )he ran 129 in the Gen 4 and 133 in the Zr-1 .The Viper was run in MUCH better horsepower weather than the Vette =had they been run in the same weather he feels the Vette would have trapped closer to 135 .

Sorry - my math WAS indeed off, but my point was simply that his ZR1 broke his Viper record...

Now - OTOH, I beg to differ with your statement about the (Bone stock) Viper doing 10.9 by an average driver, making it a BONA FIDE 10.9 car...as so far, the only bone stock one that came close to a 10.8 was mine, while Jamie owned and drove it (10.922) . You know of other drivers here that have done 10.9's on a Bone stock Viper or a Bone Stock Z06/ZR1, beside Jamie? You really believe that an "average" driver could pull 10.8's in a bone stock Viper based on trapping 130? How about some real numbers with backup - like Jamie provided?

So let me understand if I read this right - since only 2 people have done 10's in the Z, it's not a BONA FIDE 10.9's car (probably because it's only a Corvette - one you don't own), whereas only ONE has done 10.9's in a Bone Stock Viper (a car you happen to own I guess), making it a BONA FIDE 10.8 car...is that about right? All because of trap speeds, but nothing under 11's? Ya, that makes a helluvah lot of sense to me...:dunno::dunno: Sorry dude -

Umm ya - with a LOT less engine displacement too...like a few liters less and missing a few cylinders. Bottom line, yes if you addd NOS and Turbos and S/C's to a Viper, it will probably outrun a STOCK ZR1 with much less displacement. and if you add a bigger S/C or NOS to the ZR1. it'd be bye-bye Viper. Sounds lke the my d!ck's bigger than yours syndrome to me. So what exactly was your point? Is it an unfair comparison because the Vette has an S/C in it???? Also, you forgot to mention about how great the Viper would ruin if it lost a few pounds...or if you pulled out the seats etc...

We're talking about 2 BONE STOCK cars UNMODIFIED...and that's what the ZR1 is, S/C or no S/C. The ZR1 outruns the Viper...get over it and move on.:lmao:

GREAT POINTS i have had WARS with people over the above .I dont give a DAMN about track elevation DNA (or any other BS excuse they can come up with ) ANY DRIVER THAT CAN PUT A STOCK CAR (stock tirs )in the 10s is beyond EXCELLENT as a matter of fact (as you pointed out )only one guy has been able to do it.

Dont forget the $50k price difference between the two..
