There are several reasons besides seat time. They don't prep the car playing with tire psi, they don't ice the manifold, use VHT, use minimal fluid levels, the track/conditions are not ideal, etc.
I do have a question regarding not powershifting. Can you elaborate? The times you have achieved in the Z-06 required powershifting, I can't imagine it would be much different with the Viper. In other words, you are getting tire spin into 2nd and perhaps 3rd, correct?
I am sure in many instances they do play with tire pressure and have the track prepped quite well, as far as fluid levels I never touch mine or even look at them for that matter. Power shifting means not letting off the gas when you shift and I do lift when I shift so power shifting was (not required) when running my Z06.
As far as each cars average time I would say even though the Viper is a little faster than the Z06, the 2 cars are fairly close in the 1/4 mile coming down to the driver as the Z06 is a little easier car to pilot than the Viper IMO. I would say the 2 cars are 11.3 to 11.5 cars average with decent drivers and low 11's with excellent drivers. On the other hand I would say the ZR1 is low 11's with decent drivers and high 10's with excellent drivers. The ZR1 is 3 to 4 tenths and 3 to 4 mph faster on average than the Viper in the 1/4 mile. Every now and then you put up a perfect run in perfect conditions that challenges the best times of any other car, but they are far and few between so when I compare the cars I like to compare their average run not a perfect run, because in my Z06 and Viper I feel like I put up close to the perfect run with my 10 second factory tire runs. On the other hand I feel like I have a couple of tenths left in the ZR1 I have not gotten yet as the high mph the car turns demonstrates.
