Ok guys. Now I need your help. I am looking to buy the parts and was looking on eBay but I have NO IDEA what I am looking to buy. Does anyone know the name of the brand for the Rotors and Pads? I am going to buy the parts and have my local guy do it. Any help would be greatly appricated.

dude i dont think you need rotors. you just need PADS. stock or EBC Greens. stock stop better but have dust, EBC less stop and less dust..

So any info on brands I should use?

I sure am happy with Brakeman 3's. They are dusty, but I don't care about that. They are also a bit noisy, but I don't care about that either. They flat-out stop you.

Also highly recommend Stoptech Stage II (slotted rotors and steel lines) as that has made a difference too and the slots help keep the racing pads from glazing over under light use (cruising). :2tu:

Keith, your killing me here. One more post about this and I'm going to fly up there and fix your brakes for you myself.

Wings are on you. LOL

The vertical groove in the pad can be used to gauge the wear but it's real use is to allow for the dust to escape during braking.

Brakeman 3 is a good pad but as AG said they are dusty and noisy.

EBC green are quite and clean but don't have near the stopping power as Brakemans. Bad for track but not a big deal if you don't drive like an idiot on the street.

You can get either pad from Steve Pasztor 972-743-9443 at GreatBrakes.com Steve's service is "Tator level."

I like that idea! hehe. Avi, if you know what you are doing, I would love to bring the car over so that we can take a look at it together. I am completely clueless when it comes to technicalities of cars.

Not a problem Keith. I don't mind helping and I've replaced pads and rotors before on multiple vehicles. It's easy and once you learn how, you will be hooked to doing most of your own work.

Do you have the parts or do you want me to check the wear first?

Dear Avi:

If we can check the wear first that would be great and if I need the parts if you would be so kind to help me find the best place to purchase. Any help would be GREATLY appricated.

Thanks!

At $65/hour labor, your total labor should not exceed $260 and your total parts should not exceed $1,050.
$65/hour labor is wishful thinking in the North East. Try upwards of $90/hour.

You are right at say my local dodge dealer in here in LI they want 90 but I had work done at Chuck's and I think he was bit more than 65 but much less than $90, I will let him answer that one if he is reading ........
That's Chuck's rate from a couple of years ago that I was quoting. I haven't had the need for any work lately so I don't know if that rate has gone up. With Chuck, it's absolutely worth it. I hope he's not reading this and hiking his rate. :D

The Chrysler dealer I took my PT Cruiser to wanted to charge me $92/hr for the PT! Go figure.

WELL THE VERDICT IS IN

I have taken the car to two dealerships and now my private mechanic (who I VERY much trust) and the verdict is in. I need the following:

Front Pads
Rear Pads
Front Rotors
Rear Rotors

I contacted Chuck and he is going to be sending me the parts. He said he can not work on the car himself because he has 7 SRT-10's in the shop for the recall. He is giving me a GREAT deal on the parts so I will order them and have my private mechanic install them. Hopefully everything will go through so the car will be ready for the NH event on the 19th.

Wow. I would very much like to examine those pads and rotors myself. If you need new ones after 15K miles then you have a problem elsewhere.

Someone must have driven that car with the brake pedal halfway down the entire time :)

I agree with Chuck... 15k miles of regular street driving should not wear down the brakes and rotors. Even if it's stop and go traffic. You might want to make sure that everything is bled correctly while you are at it...

Re: WELL THE VERDICT IS IN

I was told that there would be uneven wear if there was a problem but they said there was none. This is pretty weird.

Re: WELL THE VERDICT IS IN

Well the everything has been done and I now have piece of mine. Chuck Tator ga ve me a great deal on the parts and even though he was not able to work on the car, I had my mechanic take the parts and install them. Thanks for everything Chuck and you guys.

BTW: Chuck told me there was a guy with a Viper and he had to change the pads and rotors after 4,000 miles. And I thought I was bad!
