The video camera looks OK, and since you have a early Viper (Gen 1), you might be interested in the mount I built for mine. It is on the dash, so has the advantage (in my opinion) of 'being up front', so the picture taken is out front.

Suction cup mounts should be no problem if they are stable.

check with davzviper...

i saw him have a camera and suction mount at the v-10 nationals here in columbus a few months back...his held like glue!!!

My experience

Make sure the camera can be set for infinity so it doesn't focus on the dash board.

Make sure most of the picture is looking out the window otherwise it will set it's exposure to inside the car. This will make it too bright outside.

If you use a suction mount make sure you have some sort of way of keeping the camera from bouncing up and down. It can be distracting.
